Creative Crew Cards

Hi everyone!  I have a few cards for you today!  These are the cards I made for this month's Splitcoast Creative Crew challenge.  We'd love to have you play along with us!  The challenges this month are great!

This card was made for the color focus challenge which was to use the soon to be retired incolors.  I decided to use all of the retiring incolors in my stamped flower image.  I just stamped the flowers and and I added a few basic pearls in the center of some of the flowers and then I cut out my image using the label framaelits.

My background was dry embossed using my honeycomb embossing folder and they all I needed to do was to assemble my card and add my ribbon and sentiment.

This card was made for the Holiday focus which was to create a masculine card and we were to try using a non-masculine set or try a new technique.  For this card I decided to try a new technique. 

I never tried double embossing before and so on this card I decided to give it a try.  I dry embossed my background using the chevron embossing folder and then using my versamark ink pad and clear embossing powder I heat embossed over the raised embossed background.  It turned out great and it looks neat in person.  I even clear embossed over the blue truck on my image.

To create my image I did some paper piecing.  I really didn't want to color the image so I just did some stamping.  I stamped my image first using cajun craze ink and then I stamped it again onto a piece of scrap paper using night of navy ink.  I cut out the night of navy truck and placed it on top of my main stamped image.  I did the same thing for the 'fresh apples' sign using more mustard ink.  I did use my SU markers to color in some of the grass and the apples.

This card was made for the Holiday focus which was to create a masculine card and we were to try using a non-masculine set or try a new technique.  On this card I used the create a cupcake set and I tried making masculine cupcakes.  What do you think?  I think it worked.  The cupcake tops were stamped, punched out and dry embossed using my perfect polka dots embossing folder.  The bottom of the cupcakes were just stamped and punched out.  The center cupcake has a bow stamped on it and I added a small rhinestone gem.

I did some paper piercing along the top and bottom of my baja breeze card stock and I used my scallop border punch along the bravo burgundy card stock layer.  To complete my card I added some twine and then stamped the sentiment.

And lastly, I made another card for the holiday focus which was to create a masculine card and we were to try using a non-masculine set or try a new technique  I'm not sure if I like the way this card turned out, but I figured I'd better let it alone before I mess it up.

I used the leafy image from the SU Just Belive stamp set.  I stamped the leaves and then the sentiment slightly over it.  I then cut it out using the ovals collection framelits.  On the crumb cake oval I added some paper piercing and I did some distressing using my scissors along the oval edge.

I even tried a new technique on this card.  After I dry embossed the chocolate chip layer using my argyle embossing folder I swiped my white craft ink pad along the raised areas to sort of give it the sanded/distressed look.

My background was dry embossed with some lines using my simply score board.  I decided to add some ribbon with a button and twine.

Twisted Tuesday ~ Tree & Knots

Good Morning!  Today's Twisted Tuesday Challenge is to use a tree or group of trees on your creation and the twist is to tie some knots on your creation. So, tie up your ribbons, twines, whatever just as long as we can see some knots!

It's easier to first cut out the top note layer and then begin your stamping.  I decided to use one of my favorite stamp sets Lovely As A Tree.  I stamped two tree images using soft suede ink, but I stamped off onto a piece of scrap paper and then I stamped onto my top note layer.  For the darker old olive tree I stamped it onto my ink pad and then using my soft suede marker I colored the tree trunk.

My background is embossed using the vintage wallpaper embossing folder.  The designer series paper on my background was ran through my paper crimper.  My top note layer is placed onto my card using dimensionals.

I decided to add three small pieces of ribbon tied with knots in the upper right hand corner and my sentiment is from a retired SU stamp set called Whimsical words.

I almost forgot to mention that I cut out a top note layer using old olive card stock and I ended up cutting that in half and I placed it just a tad bigger than my white top note layer.  I wanted it to look like there was an old olive layer behind my main image panel.

Hi everyone!  I'm up late tonight.  I just couldn't get to sleep so I decided to make a card for today's ways to use it challenge on splitcoast stampers which was to create a card with a dog on it.  I also made this card for this week's Mojo Monday sketch found here.

I only have 2 dog stamp sets so I decided to use my D is for dog set since I have never used it before.  I love these challenges, it's a great way to make us ink up those unloved stamps, right?

I really didn't use any sort of fancy technique to make my card.  It was just a matter of stamping and cutting.  I stamped the dog image twice and one image I cut out and placed it over top (and just a hair to the right) of my first image.  I wanted to make the dog look like he was moving.   Then I stamped and cut out a bone, I added a few Rhinestone Jewels for the dog collar and I decided I needed some grass. 

To make the grass I used my word window punch and I punched some old olive card stock.  Then using my scissors I cut it to look like grass and then I even went a step further and I ran it through my paper crimper.  It looks pretty neat in person so I wanted to try and take a close up photo so you could see it better.

My sentiment is stamped and layered using my circle punches and underneath that I punched a chocolate chip layer using my designer label punch.  I placed my sentiment (using dimensionals) on top of the knot from where I tied my twine.

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!  If you would like to sign up for my newsletters please send me an email at pebbles4@ptd.net and I will gladly add your name to my list.  Today I am sharing with you the last of the swap cards I made for a swap in which we were to create cards using up our paper scraps.

This is such an easy card and quick to make too. I think it took me about 25 minutes to make 6 of these cards, honest. I began by scoring two sets of two lines in the middle area of my card.

Next, I pulled out my scrap bin full of left over pieces of Stampin' Up! designer series paper and using various sizes of circle punches I began punching out some circles. The trick to finding dsp that matches is to check the back side. More often than not the reverse sides of the dsp will match and if you happen to have some scraps from the same pack of dsp you'll be good to go.

Lastly, I added my sentiment. This type of card would be great for almost any occasion. You could easily make this into a more feminine card using some flowerly type dsp and perhaps finish it off with some basic pearl or rhinestone gems.

After I had my card made I thought that I should have tied a piece of twine inside the button, but my cards are finished now, but next time I'll remember not to leave a button blank. Have a great rest of the weekend. The weather here in PA is absolutely gorgeous.

Hi everyone!  I have a quick card to share with you all today.  I followed this week's sketch from the Clean & Simple stamping blog found here.  Father's Day is this weekend so I figured I'd better get started making some Father's Day cards. 

This week is a really easy sketch and so this card went together quickly.  I colored my image using my SU watercolor crayons and a blender pen.  Water coloring isn't a technique that I do very often, but I really like my results and I should break out my crayons more often.

I decided not to add any embellishments on my card; I wanted to keep it 'clean & simple'.

Hi everyone!

I'm back! Thanks for hanging in there while I took a much needed break. 

My card for today was made for this week's CAS Splitcoast challenge.  I needed a birthday card for my grandfather so I tried to keep this sort of on the masculine side (no ribbon or glitter).

This week's CAS challenge was to create a summer themed card.  Well, my family just loves to go for ice cream in the summertime and so that was my inspiration for my card.

Hubby just bought me this Martha Stewart ice cream punch yesterday and I couldn't wait to use it.  I really want SU's Sweet Scoops stamp set, but I guess this is a pretty close substitute.

It might be hard to see in my photo, but I used the dotted background stamp from the SU set 'Looks Like Spring' to stamp on my ice cream cones.  It sort of gives it the true ice cream cone effect.  (If you click on my picture you will be able to see it).

For my stamped chocolate chips on the ice cream scoops I used the splatter stamp from SU's Itty Bitty Backgrounds and my sentiment is from SU's Crazy for Cupcakes.

My background is embossed using my Cuttlebug and Argyle embossing folder, again I tired to mimic the ice cream cone lines.

I haven't been able to post the last couple of days because my computer was broken and I had to wait until my husband was able to fix it. He replaced the hard drive and it seems so much better now and faster too!

Today is my husband's birthday (and tomorrow is mine). Yes, my husband is only one day older than I am :) All of our children's birthday's (and ours) fall during this time of year. We have all five of our birthday's within in 10 weeks of each other plus Christmas in the middle of it all. Needless to say this is a really busy time of year for me. Next week is the baby's birthday. She will be turing 1 year old. I can't believe how fast she has grown! She's walking now and into everything; she's my little explorer.

Anyway, now that my husband has his birthday card I can post it here for you all to see it. I wasn't able to post it earlier because he reads my blog everyday and I wanted it to be a surprise.

My husband loves the SU stamp set Crab & Company. Long story, but if you've ever watched SpongeBob you know about the crabby patty, well that's me and my husband get's to be Mr. Krabs!!!

I always have a hard time using this stamp set and if it wasn't that my husband liked it so much, I would sell it. I can never make a good card with this set and I find it very hard to use. I usually end up stamping and cutting out the images for my cards, which also fits into Thursdays way's to use it challenge. For Thursday's challenge we were to find ways to cut out our images and/or sentiments.

I ended up cutting out almost everything on my card. The ocean waves were embossed using my Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls embossing folder and then I simply cut along the swirls part to create the waves. Along the top wave I added some white highlights using my gel pen (but I'm not sure that I like it now).

For everything else I just stamped and cut. I stamped the image onto colored cardstock and then cut it out. For the eyes I had to stamp the image again onto white cardstock, then cut them out, and glue them over my image. Some of the cutting was pretty intricate so I used my craft knife for some of it.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! The last picture in this post is my card for Monday's CAS Challenge. This week's challenge is an inspiration challenge. I chose this pillow for my inspiration.

In choosing this pillow I was trying to think of a way to mimic the pattern and this is what I came up with. I have some pictures posted below to show how I made the squares. My card was super easy and fun to make!

The first thing I did was to punch out some squares using striped pattern paper. I used my 1 1/4" square punch because I knew that I was going to layer the squares and I wanted to use my larger punch for the layering.

Once my squares were punched out I took my scissors and I cut each square on a diagonal from one corner to the next. I tried to show how I cut them in the above picture.

Now I have lots of small triangles. I arranged the triangles in the pattern that I wanted. When I was trying to arrange the triangles I discovered that for every two punched squares I had I ended up throwing one away. So in making my card I punched out six total squares in order to get the three shown on my card. Confusing, I know, but trust me it will work out.

After I had my triangles arranged the way that I wanted them I then adhered them to my colored card stock. Then using my larger square punch (1 3/8") I punched out my square.

Here's a picture of my finished squares. Next, I added a silver brad to the center of each square and then I assembled my card.

I layered my three squares on white and blue card stock. I scored a line above and below both layers just to give it some interest. My Happy Birthday sentiment is from SU's It's Your Birthday stamp set. I stamped my sentiment using silver Encore ink.

My husband says that I should have added a ribbon on my card, but I sort of thought that this could be used for a masculine birthday card, so I left the ribbon off; besides masculine cards are harder for me to make and I like to have a few on hand for when I need them.

Here's my submission for today's limited supply challenge. For today's challenge we were to create a masculine teen or adult card, but we were not allowed to use any flowers, ribbon, or bling.

Believe it or not this is the first time that I've ever used this stamp set and I've had it for a few years now.

My card was pretty easy to make, all I did was stamp the image using Chocolate Chip ink. Then I stamped it again using Bashful Blue ink and I punched out the U using a 3/4" circle punch and placed it over top using a dimensional.

I added some faux stitching to my card base and I created a faux belt along the bottom of my Bashful Blue card stock. To the left side of my Bashful Blue card stock I also did some paper piercing.


After seeing several cards similar to the one I made here I decided to go ahead and give it a try.

I made this card yesterday, but then I tried making it again. You can see my first card here.

This time when I made my card I stamped the sentiment suing Chocolate Chip ink instead of the Black ink and I tried to stamp the background trees a little lighter.

I'm very pleased with this card, it really was quick and easy to make. I created an oval mask and used my stipple brush to make my background. I stamped the larger group of tree image using Old Olive ink. I inked up the stamp and then stamped off and then stamped my card stock.

For the larger single tree I used Old Olive ink, but this time I didn't stamp off first. Then using my Chocolate Chip marker I colored it a bit for the branches. I added some paper piercing (free handed) along the outside of my oval and I added some Old Olive color ribbon.



And finally I have one last card to share with you all today. I originally made this card for the CAS DT search, but I decided not to submit it because I felt that perhaps it wasn't clean and simple enough.

This image is from an older Stampin Up stamp set (from 1999) called 'Great Groupings'.

All I did to create my card was stamp my image and I colored it using SU Watercolor crayons and a blender pen.

I added some paper piercing along the outside edge of my Old Olive card stock and my ribbon is from Offray. My sentiment is from SU's Happy Fall Y'all.

Happy Monday!

Well, I'm exhausted from all of the work that we did yesterday, so I'm planning on taking it easy today. My husband's grandmother came over today to visit with the children. It was pretty hot outside so they ended up staying inside and playing.

My children loved the movie at the park last night. (They showed the movie called Bedtime Stories). The children were well behaved and the baby slept during the movie, it was some nice family time.

My card for today is for the clean & simple challenge. Today's challenge was to create a masculine card.

I decided to make a square card today and my card was really quick and easy. I just stamped my image, assembled my card, distress the Close to Cocoa card stock layer, and added my embellishments.

The image I used is from SU's Noble Deer stamp set. My decorative paper is also from SU, but I'm pretty sure that it's a retired pattern.

Well, it's Monday! And my favorite weekly challenge is here! And to top it off, it's a sketch challenge. Two of my very favorite challenges put together, well I decided to get right to work and see what I could come up with. Today's sketch was based upon this card shown here. This sketch makes real quick and easy cards.

I decided to make another Christmas card using this sketch. I figure it's getting close to the end of July and I could make one more Christmas in July card.

For my Christmas card basically all I did was stamp and color. My image is from SU's Big on Christmas and I colored it using my SU markers.

The decorative paper I used is also SU, but I'm pretty sure it's a retired pattern. Then I tied the ribbon on my card. Almost all of the ribbon that I use is from Offray. I find that it's a lot cheaper to purchase my ribbon from Offray and I'm pretty happy with the quality and most of what I buy matches the SU colors pretty well.

My second card that I made for today's CAS sketch challenge is a masculine card. I rarely ever make masculine cards so I decided to try one today.

This card was super quick and easy to make. All I did was stamp my image and assemble my card. My image is from SU's Yukon stamp set. I just stamped it using Close to Cocoa ink and that was it.

Again, I'm pretty sure the SU decorative paper I used is a retired pattern. My sentiment is from SU's It's Your Birthday. I also used a buckle from the hodge podge hardware set that I have (and that's retired as well).

I made this card for today's splitcoast sketch challenge. Wednesday's sketch challenges used to be my very favorite challenge, and I've sort of gotten away from them. I have to try and start making a point of doing them again because they are super easy to follow and some of my favorite cards have been the result of a sketch challenge.

Anyway, here are two cards that I made for today's sketch challenge. I've been making some Christmas cards lately and I got to thinking that if I make more Christmas cards now, then it might not be such a chore when it comes time to send out my Christmas cards later this year.

The only stamp set that I used to make my first card here is a SU stamp set called sweet holidays. On my real red paper I stamped the peppermint candy stamp using real red ink. On my green galore paper I used the gum drop stamp and I stamped it using green galore ink.

The gingerbread house took me awhile to color. I used my SU markers and colored the house and all of the candy. Then I covered the candy roof and gum drops with crystal effects and quickly dusted dd glitter over it and let dry. I added the green and white ribbon and green button for my embellishments.


For my second sketch challenge card I decided to force myself to create a masculine birthday card. I very rarely make any masculine cards, mainly because I just don't use them very often, but they are always good to have on hand.

This card was super quick and easy to make, in fact I had this card finished in about 10 minutes. There is no coloring on my card, all I did was stamp and assembled.

I used the SU stamp set nobel deer and I stamped the sahara sand paper using a versa mark ink pad and the pine cone stamp. I used the SU background stamp called weathered to add some texture to my ballet blue paper.

For my main deer image all I did was ink and stamp. I assembled my card and I added some twine and a ballet blue button. I threaded the twine through the button from behind it and then I tied a knot. I tried to do a little something different with the twine and I twisted is all along my card. My sentiment is from SU's it's your birthday stamp set.
