Wedding Invitations

Good Morning!  I've been busy making some wedding invitation samples for a bride.  Her wedding colors are hot pink and black and she wanted me to create something with a budget in mind.  So far I made up these samples for her.  I think I like the first sample invites better, but I made the second set to show her something that would be less expensive to mail and less expensive to make.

To create this set of invites I first stamped the flower image using black ink and I stamped it all over onto a white sheet of card stock.  Then I cut up that sheet and I used it as my designer series paper.  I used my scallop border punch to punch along the bottom of the response card and I stamped the wedding day sentiment using melon mambo ink.  The wedding day stamp is from the all year cheer stamp set and I cut off the word happy so it was easier to stamp. 

On the invitation I did the same thing using the stamped card stock as my designer series paper and on this card I added some hot pink ribbon and the bride & groom's names above it.    Since this was just a sample card I used mine and my husband's names.  I first stamped the four frames image, punched it out, and then layered the ovals.  The names were computer generated.

I decided to make these as a sample because they were easy to make, perfect for mailing, and inexpensive for a bride on a budget.  I really like this embossing folder since it's not completely covered with a design and it leaves room to stamp a sentiment.  I used the forever & always stamp from the loving thoughts stamp set and it's just perfect for her wedding invitation.  I had to use my stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the forever & always sentiment because I wanted to make sure it was stamped just right in-between the embossing.

To create the response card I used the same embossing folder and I left the bottom portion unembossed which left me some room to stamp the wedding day greeting.  Just at the bottom of the embossing I used my simply score tool to create two embossed lines.

Crafty Gal Blog Group~ December Challenge

Hi everyone!  The blog group I belong to has a challenge every month and this month we are doing a really neat challenge.  For the month of December the Craft Gal's Blog Group is doing a 'Guess Who I'm CASEing' challenge.

We were to go back and pick another blog group member's card to case from the month of March.  Well, I goofed and the card I decided to case was from the month of October (sorry about that), but once the person I cased this from sees this card she will know it's hers.  I had to case this card because after I saw it the first time I had to go and order the En Francais stamp.  We aren't supposed to reveal whose card we cased until we've all had a chance to guess them so I'll come back on Friday and update this post with a link to the original card I cased.

I stamped the lower portion of my background using the En Francasis stamp and the upper portion of my background was stamped using the Hello Doily stamp.  The two images meet in the middle and it was pretty close, but it didn't really matter since my ribbon covered up that part.

My flower was stamped using the Daydream Medallions stamps and it was cut out using my floral frame framelits.  I have dimensionals under each layer of my flower.  I finished off my card by stamping a sentiment and punching it out using the jewelry tag punch and I also added a small button with some twine tied through the center.

Twisted Tuesday ~ The Color Blue

Good Morning!  Here's my card for today's Twisted Tuesday challenge.  This week's challenge is a color challenge and our cards/ projects needed to be mostly blue in color. The Twist ~ Try to only use one other color besides blue.

I always wanted to try and make some paper roses and today's challenge I thought was the perfect opportunity.  I made blue roses for my blue card.  The other color I used was certainly celery green for my leaves.  Hubby saw my card and said I should post a video on how I made these roses and so I did.  I hope you like my video; I'm getting better at them (I think).

Another Flower Card~ Blossom Flower Punch

I wanted to try making a flower using the blossom punch so this card above is another card with a paper flower.  I think this flower looks more like a carnation than a rose because of the scallop edges.  This flower is made the same way that I made the roses.  Be sure to check out my video above to see how I made them.

I added some faux stitching along the top part of my black card stock and I added a row of scallop paper piercing onto my white background (just above my black card stock).

Twisted Tuesday ~ Anything Goes

Good Morning!  Here's my card for today's Twisted Tuesday Challenge which is a free for all challenge so I hope you'll play along with us this week and be sure to stop by and check out the other DT member's cards!  I also made these cards for Monday's technique lover challenge on splitcoast stampers.

I wanted to try this technique that I've been seeing lately.  It's called seamless tiers or some people are calling it triple stamping. Basically all you are doing is taking three sheets of white card stock and placing them on top of each other and then begin your stamping.  You will want to pick a stamp that is big enough to cover at least 2 of the three layers.  I'm going to make a video showing this technique so that you can better understand how to do this.  I'll post the video below. 

Below is a close up photo of my card.  I wanted to try and show you the glitter on my card; it's really sparkly in person.  I also wanted to list the measurements of the wisteria wonder (purple) and the black layers on my cards. There is 1/8" difference in each layer. 

My finished card size is- 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" the next white layer is 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
The next layer (black/purple card stock) is: 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" and the white card stock is: 4 3/8" x 3 1/8"
My smallest layer (black/purple card stock) is- 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" and the white card stock is 3 3/8" x 2 1/8"

Good morning!  Today's clean and simple challenge on splitcoast stampers is an inspiration challenge based on the black and white swim suit photo below. 

Wish I looked that good in a swim suit....LOL  but anyway...I did some dry embossing on the upper portion of my card and I used my scallop trim border punch to sort of mimic the ruffles on the swim suit.

I tried to work in some black towards the bottom of my card since the bottom half of the swim suit is black.  Black and white cards are perfect for weddings and so I thought this would make a lovely wedding card. 

I used the stamp set called Four Frames and I stamped the newlywed sentiment inside the frame.  My sentiment is from the set Teeny Tiny Wishes- If you looking for a new sentiment stamp set I have to recommend this set, I find myself using it all the time.

Hi everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful Father's Day.  My kids made breakfast in bed for daddy and my husband enjoyed his English muffin, coffee, and the news paper delviered to him.  Of course he heard us in the kitchen getting it ready, but we do it every year and so I think he sort of expected it.

I wanted to make a card for last week's splitcoast clean and simple challenge and just tonight I set aside some time to see what I could come up with.  The challenge was to create a card using a white card base with a white card front.  White cadrs always make such pretty wedding cards and so that's what I decided to make.

I began by stamping my heart image on my card base layer and then I embossed the bottom half of that layer using my perfect polka dots embossing folder and just above my embossed area I added 2 rows of dry embossing using my simply score board. 

The next layer I cut to size 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" and then I punched out the circle using my 1 3/4" circle punch.  Then I ran the upper portion of this layer through my big shot machine using my vintage wallpaper embossing folder and just below the embossed area I again added 2 rows of dry embossing using my simply score tool.  I added my sentiment just below my score lines.

The ribbon and silver cording I used is retired Stampin' Up ribbon and cording!  I still have some left over from when I made my wedding invitations several years ago.

Hi everyone!  I first want to say a huge thank you for being so patient with me these past few weeks.  I've had so much going on that I felt I needed to take a break for a while.  I've been busy with the construction of our pool installation and during this process my husband ended up in the emergency room and he had to have his appendix removed.  He is doing much better now and he is since back to work, but he still can't lift anything over 10 lbs.  Of course you'd have to know my husband and how much he is enjoying the 'no lifting' rule because that leaves all the yard work from the pool installation for me to do.  And I never imagined how much yard work there would be once the pool was installed, but it's almost finished- thank goodness!  (I will have to post a picture of our pool tomorrow- it's dark out right now).

The card I am sharing with you today is one I made for a card swap.  We were able to make any card we wanted and so I decided to make a wedding card.  This was a real quick and easy card to make.

I ran my white card stock layer through my big shot machine using my final press embossing folder, but I was sure to keep the lower 1/3 portion of my card stock outside of the embossing folder so that it would remain smooth (or unembossed).  I wanted the smooth portion below my ribbon so that I could stamp my sentiment in that area.

I colored in the dots on my embossed background black using my SU black marker.  I had to be careful to only color the dots- this was actually easy to do.

Next, I stamped my sentiment using my stamp-a-ma-jig so that I stamped it straight and then I added my ribbon and that's it!  A quick and easy wedding card!

On Monday I will be posting another card I made for the same card swap.  I used the new flower Stampin' Up! stamp set called Flower Fest.  This set is available in our current summer mini catalog (on page 20) and it's also in our newly released catalog.

Hi everyone! For the past few day's I've been busy helping my friend make wedding invitations for her brother and his fiancé.

My friend asked me to help her come up with an easy black and white design for wedding invitations with response cards. They wanted them finished asap and I ended up having 56 invitations & response cards, and 60 thank you cards finished in only four days.



I showed the bride a few different examples of some quick and easy wedding invitations, but she seemed to really like the results from this cuttlebug folder and she liked that they were quick and easy.

She has never stamped before, but she and her future sister in law helped me one night get these started. I really think using cuttlebug folders was the way to go for her wedding cards.

I used the birds & swirls embossing folder to emboss the upper 3/4 portion of her card and then just below we scored a line using my scor-pal.

I was sort of stuck on what to put on the front of her invitation, but then it all of a sudden came to me to put their first names and layer them using the scallop oval punch and large oval punch (and the bride loved it).

She saw this heart clip that I had used on another card and she wanted to incorporate in her invite as well and the only think that I thought looked nice was to somehow tie it in with her ribbon. It took me a little bit to tie all of the ribbon on her cards with the heart clip, but I really like the finished results. The wedding invitations and the rest of the matching cards are all a size A2 card.

The next picture is of her response cards. I came up with this design from my own response cards that I made for my wedding. (Here are the invitations and response cards from my wedding- just in case anyone would like to see my response card). The response cards are 5" x 3" and they fit so nicely insider her invitation cards.

Again, I wanted to keep with using the dry embossing theme and I used another cuttlebug folder. This time the folder I used was from a set of five smaller 'strips' that are sold together as a group. The set is called Just My Type.

We ran the white card stock through my cuttlebug and then we layered it onto a black layer which was punched using the Martha Stewart lace border punch. This is the punch that the bride liked the best. I think the scalloped border would have worked as well. (She was debating between the two of them).

The wedding day stamp is from one of the SU's All Year Cheer stamp sets. I actually purchased an extra Happy Wedding Day stamp on ebay a few years ago and then I cut off the word happy.

I surprised the bride by making her the thank you cards. She purchased all of the card stock and we used my supplies. She's not a stamper so she told me to keep the card stock that was left over, but I just couldn't keep it when I knew that I had enough to make her some thank you cards.

I knew that she liked the D'vine Swirls folder (she almost picked this one for her invitations), so I wanted to use it on her thank you cards.

The upper portion is embossed with the swirls folder and the bottom part is embossed using a small strip from the embossing folder called With Love.

I scored a line just below and just above the embossed areas using my scor-pal. For the sentiment I used the thank you stamp from SU's Warmest Regards stamp set. The swirl image that I stamped on both sides of the sentiment is from a Studio G stamp set, series 11.

I didn't add any embellishments on her thank you cards because I wanted to keep them simpler and I wanted them to be more like a note card. I also didn't add any ribbon because I wanted to try and keep her postage down.

Today I spent my morning grooming my dog. I try to save some money where ever I can and grooming my dog is one thing that I can do myself.

I have a cocker spaniel that is almost 14 years old and she's a lot of work. I keep telling my husband this is our last dog. It's hard to plan family day trips and (maybe one day) a vacation when you have a dog.

She's a good dog and she is much calmer now that she is getting older. She's great with the kids, but no one really plays with her and I'm the one who ends up with all of the doggie chores. My daughter and my son each have a fish and that's about the extent of our pets from now on...LOL



My card for today is for Tuesday's splitcoast color challenge. I rarely participate in the color challenges, I'm not quite sure why, I guess because I feel as though I'm not very good at them, but after seeing what today's colors were I decided to give it a try.

The colors for today's challenge are: So Saffron, Mellow Moss, and Rose Red (Melon Mambo was the in color choice, but I do not use any in colors), and neutrals of choice.

I found this stamped image in my box of images. I thought it was a SU image, but I don't know for sure. My card was pretty easy to make. All I did was color my image using my SU markers, assemble my card, and then I added two rows of paper piercing along the right side.

I wasn't quite sure what type of sentiment I wanted to use, but I got to thinking that this might make a nice Valentine's Day card. (Maybe from my husband to me..;) So honey if you are reading this, you can take this card. I guess it could also be an anniversary or maybe an informal wedding card.

Here's my card for today. Today's splitcoast challenge is a color challenge. The colors for today are pretty in pink, close to cocoa, and white. This was an easy challenge for me today because pretty in pink is one of my favorite colors. I was thinking that I should make another wedding card for yesterday's CAS challenge, but now that my card is finished I'm not quite sure if it's clean enough, although I think it would make a lovely wedding card.

I used my SU Thoughts & Prayers stamp set. Using my SU markers I colored the stamp and then stamp it on my card stock. I punched out three small butterflies using the 3 in 1 Martha Stewart butterfly punch and then I added a dab of liquid pearls in the center.

My white layer is punched using the Martha Stewart lace border punch. I created my background by repeatedly stamping the small flower trio stamp from SU's Live Your Dream stamp set. I added some white dots using my white gel pen. The sentiment is from SU's Warmest Regards and my ribbon is from Offray. Thanks so much for looking! I hope you all had a wonderful Tuesday!

Here's my card for today's Clean & Simple Challenge. Today's challenge was a theme challenge and the theme was to create a wedding card.

When I need to make a wedding card, I find myself usually using white card stock and my Cuttlebug. I guess because I feel that the Cuttlebug can create elegant cards so quickly and easily.

I used my Cuttlebug and Cuttlebug embossing folder called 'Just My Type' to create the embossed portion of my card. This particular folder is a set of five small strips, so all I did was run the small strip folder through my Cuttlebug and then I turned the folder around and I embossed again just above my previous row.

Right above my embossed area I used my Scor-pal to create three straight score lines. My ribbon is over top of these lines, but I just wanted to mention it in case you couldn't see it.

I didn't have oval punches large enough, so I used my Cricut to cut out the two ovals at the top of my card. Then I stamped my sentiment and I stamped and cut out the small flowers. The flowers are from SU's Fairy-tale Wedding stamp set. I stamped them using Silver Encore ink.

Finally, I added some liquid pearls (white opal) to the center of each flower. My silver and white ribbon is from Offray. Thanks for looking!

The Autumn CAS DT (Clean & Simple Design Team) search is under way. Here is the link if you would like some more information on how you can participate in the design team challenge cards. Jen has listed three different challenges that we are to create cards for.

The first challenge is a sketch challenge. The sketch from this card (made by girlydecou) is the sketch that we were to follow.

For my first card I used my SU stamp set Baroque Motifs. I just stamped the flourish stamp in the lower right corner and then I added some glitter over the thicker black swirls using my versamark marker and iridescent ice embossing powder (it's really hard to see in the picture, but it looks really pretty in person).

I decided to add a few small punched butterflies and a dab of liquid pears in the center. My ribbon is from Offray. I was thinking that this would make a great wedding card and that's why I decided to use the word cherish for my sentiment.

I made a second card for this sketch challenge. I decided to use an older SU stamp set called Wishing Well.

This card that I made was a super easy one. All I did was stamp my image and colored it using my SU markers. The wishing you well sentiment is from the same stamp set and my ribbon is from Offray.

I'll be posting the rest of my cards for the Autumn CAS DT in the next few days. I have them finished, but I didn't want to post them all in one post. I made two cards for the color challenge and I made four cards for the theme challenge.

WOW! It's a hot one here today and my husband and I were super busy. We had to cut his grandmother's grass, finish staining our deck, take my car to get fixed, and then I had planned on taking our children to the movie in the park event in the evening. The movie that they are showing is called Bedtime Stories. My husband said it's a pretty good movie, so I'm hoping that the kids will like it. Our township has movie night once a month and it's a free event, so I usually try to go (and my son thinks it's a picnic because we sit on a blanket and eat popcorn).

This is the card that I made for today's featured stamper. Today's featured stamper is Stamp Muse. This is the card from her gallery that I chose to case. I really love all white cards especially for wedding cards.

I wanted to try using a few different Cuttlebug embossing folders on my card, but no matter which ones I picked it just didn't work for me, so I ended up using only one Cuttlebug folder. Also I didn't have a large butterfly like she used on her card, but I did end up adding some small punched butterflies.

Like her card, I used all white card stock, organdy ribbon, and the same sketch, but I turned the sketch sideways.

I made my card by using the Birds & Swirls embossing folder, my Martha Stewart 3 in 1 butterfly punch, SU's Sincere Salutations for the sentiment, organdy ribbon, and liquid pearls. My sentiment is punched using a wide oval punch.

My mother in law is at a wedding today which brings me to my card for today. When I make my cards I don't make them just for me, I also make them for my friends and family to use. When my mother in law needs a card she just lets me know and then I get to work on it. Well, she needed a wedding card for today (you can see that card here- wedding card), but I got to thinking that I should probably have another one on hand and this is the card that I came up with.

I love making all white cards for wedding cards and I usually end up using my cuttlebug on them. In this picture I am using my birds and swirls embossing folder. I tried to show in the picture how I only emboss about three quarters of my background. I insert the card stock into the folder only part way and then I run it through my cuttlebug machine.

After my cardstock is embossed I then add my score lines using my scor-pal. I always have a hard time keeping my score line straight, but I tried to show in this picture how I've corrected that problem. On the right side of my cardstock you should be able to see how I've lined up edge with the groove. Then I scored my lines along the edging of the embossed image and again along the bottom (you'll see this a little bit better in the next picture).

Here's the picture of my card so far with my added decorative score lines and sentiment. My sentiment is from SU's sincere salutations. I generally end up using this sentiment for my wedding cards. Then, I added a white and silver ribbon and some punched out butterflies using my Martha Stewart butterfly punches shown in the picture below.

The Martha Stewart punches that I used are called classic butterfly and 3 in 1 butterfly. I love these punches because it's such a quick and easy way to add some dimension to a card. I just punched out the butterflies and glued them to my card.

And this is a picture of my finished card. I placed the smaller punched butterflies in the embossed area and the larger butterflies next to my sentiment.
