Good Morning!  It's Tuesday and time for another challenge over at the Twisted Tuesday's challenge blog.  This week's challenge is a color challenge - we were to use pink, red, and green.  The twist this week was that we needed to use 3 brads and ribbon. 

I ended up using my 3 brads in the flower centers, and my ribbon is in place of my leaves, and I used some twine tied across my vase and it's threaded through my sentiment and then tied with a bow.

My flowers were simply stamped and then punched out.  Each flower was stamped twice so that they have another flower underneath- they are two layers and using my bone folder I rolled the flowers outward and the flower layer underneath I rolled under.  I wanted to give my flowers some dimension.  The centers of my flowers are just some more stamped flowers that I punched out using my smaller circle punches.  The green layer is a 3/4" circle punch and then my brads are in the center of those.

And here's a close up photo of the flowers on my card.  I wanted to try and show you the different dimension of my flowers.  I have one flower placed on my card just using glue dots and the next flower I used dimensionals, but the third (the highest flower) I ended up stacking my dimensionals so that it would raise up more that the others.  To stack your dimensionals, simply place a few dimensionals where you would like them to be and peel off the backing.  Next, place a few more dimensionals on top of the first ones you placed down and again, peel off the backing.
Did you figure out how I made my vase?  It's actually a die cut from the labels collection.  I just cut off the point along the bottom.  I love the versility of this die, I bet it would make a cute basket too!

~ Craft Your Passion We were to use at least one punch or die cut on our projects.  I used my Blossom punch to punch out my flowers.

~ Lollipop Crafts This challenge was to create a spring themed card.  Well I don't know about you, but nothing screams spring to me like flowers do, right?

~Made Especially for You This challenge was perfect for me since I love to do everything in 3's.  We were to create a card with 3 flowers on it.

Wait, don't go yet.....I had so much fun with the Twisted Tuesday challenge that I decided to make a second card! This time I wanted to make a card using the same colors only I didn't want to make a flower card.  All I kept thinking was that I wanted to do something with some strawberries and so this is what I came up with.

I stamped my images and punched them out.  My apple, cherry, and strawberry images were colored using my SU markers.  The apple image in the center has dimensionals underneath it.

I punched a white border using my eyelet border punch just below my wild wasabi dsp.  I decided to add my three brads just above my wild wasabi dsp.  And for my sentiment I stamped it and punched it out using my word window punch.  Then I placed my sentiment particially underneath my main image panel.  In case you are not able to read my sentiment is reads- 'sweet treats'.

Good evening!  I decided to see what the Clean & Simple challenge was on splitcoast stampers and it was a sketch challenge- my very favorite of course and so here is my card for the challenge.  I turned the sketch sideways.

This is an oldie set, huh?  I was sorting through my stamps trying to rearrange the 'soon to be' retiring sets from the current ones and I happened to stumble across this set.

I stamped the cat image and then a crown.  I cut out the crown and placed it on the cat.  Next, I added three small basic pearls for her collar.  My cat image has dimensionals underneath it.  I didn't have a larger circle punch to layer and punch out a black circle so I decided to use the same 1 3/4" circle punch and punch out two black circles and layer them underneath my stamped cat image.  It worked pretty- you may have not even noticed.

My pink designer series paper is retired paper (sorry I can't recall the name of it).  I decided to stamp some black flowers onto my dsp so the paper is normally pink with lighter pink polka dots- not with the black flowers.  This is the first time I ever stamped on dsp and I think it turned out great!  I probably wouldn't stamp on a busier dsp pattern, but here it worked out.

I used my scallop trim border punch along the side of my dsp and on the other side I decided to add three small ribbon tabs- that's something I haven't used a quite some time, but I couldn't figure out how else to add a small bit of ribbon.  Ribbon tabs are great if you have lots of scraps to use up!

Retirement List is Here!

Good Morning! The retirement list is here! Since the new annual catalog will be reduced from 240 pages to 208 pages there are a lot of items retiring this time around! Retiring stamps are available from now until May 31, 2012.

The retiring accessories and Definitely Decorative lists will be released on April 25th. (I will post is here  once Stampin’ Up! makes it available for its demonstrators). Remember the retiring accessories are only available while supplies last!

Also, retiring this year are the 2011-2012 in colors: peach parfait, poppy parade, pear pizzazz, concord crush, and blushing bride. That also means that all of the coordinating items in these colors will also be retiring, such as- card stock, markers, ink pads, ribbon, dsp, etc. These items usually sell out pretty quickly so you may want to think about ordering them soon if they are something you are interested in.

Also, due to a supplier issue Stampin’ Up! is no longer able to fill orders for Dotto adhesive.  It was one of the accessory items that was going to be retired anyway.

Yikes!  It's Friday the 13th.  I didn't even realize that until I started typing my post for today.  But anyway, here's my card for today!  I've been on a roll lately combining challenges, it's so fun!  I made this card for-

-- Today's free for all challenge on splitcoast stampers- we were to use inchies.
-- CAS-ual Friday blog- we were to choose 2 opposite colors from the color wheel. I used red & green
-- 365 Cards - Just a touch.  Select an image to add to your card, adding just a touch of color to it.
-- DYSU Challenge Blog - getting our Glitter or Bling on.  There is glitter on my center flower (It was hard to get a better photograph of my glitter, but it's there).
 
I stamped my three images and punched them out using my square punch.  In keeping with the 365 blog challenge to only color a touch of my image I decided to be a little more creative and I colored the center image and left the other two without any color- I think this looks pretty neat!  My flower image panel is placed on my card using dimensionals.

I used the accents edgelit die for my scalloped poppy parade border.  To make my ribbon treatment I placed a piece of sticky tape across my card and then I scrunched it by folding the ribbon back and forth until I got the ruffled look I wanted.  I used my piercing tool to help me do this. 

Then I added my button with a piece of twine tied in a bow.  I only have white SU twine so I used my poppy parade marker to color it red- if you do this make sure your twine is dry before you work with it.

I sort of felt that the bottom of my card was a bit too plain and so I decided to add just a dry embossed rows using my simply scoring tool.

Sorry I'm posting a bit late tonight.  This is the first chance I had today to sit down and update my blog. I decided to make this card for 3 challenges, and boy what a challenge that was for me!  I'm not really very good at combining challenges.

I used this week's Mojo monday sketch challenge on my card.  Then I used Little Red Wagon color challenge which was to use a spring palette (like pinks and greens- soft spring colors) and then I also followed the Use it Tuesday challenge was spring cleaning!  We were to use anything from our stash, but their challenge requires us to use our hoarded supplies.  Well the stamp set I used I've had since the beginning of January and this is the first time I'm using it.  Not sure why since I love this flower image.

The upper background part of my card was stamped using the long row of flowers stamp and blushing bride ink.  I love the look you can achieve from stamping the same color ink onto the same color card stock- it's a nice subtle image or 'tone on tone' as it's sometimes referred to.  Along the bottom of my background I added two rows of paper piercing.

The designer series papers I used are from the twitterpated pack, can you tell I love these papers?! LOL  I added a white punched layer (using my eyelet border punch) in-between my designer series paper layer. 

For my main flower image I stamped the flowers, colored them using my SU markers, added a few basic pearls, and then cut out the image.  I placed my image (using dimensionals) over my embossed layer (I used the square lattice folder) and then I cut it out using the labels framelits. 

I actually used the same size framelits for my pear pizzazz and blushing bride layers.  The blusing bride layer I simply cut and them embossed.  The pear pizzazz layer I had to cut two peices and then I placed them on top of each other, but I tried keeping it large enough so that it would be a base layer for my blushing bride card stock.  I think it worked since you really can't tell where my green layers overlap.

For my ribbon treatment I didn't have any pear pizzazz or blushing bride ribbon so I got creative and I took some white ribbon and I colored it using my SU markers.  I don't always have the correct color ribbon that I need and so I do this every once and awhile.  If you try this be sure to color you ribbon in an area away from your card (don't ask....LOL- I've messed up a card or two) and you will want to make sure your ribbon is dry before you begin working with it.

Hi everyone!  Today I decided I would play around with my Awash With Flowers stamp set.  This is a set that I just had to have and then it sat on my shelf.  These flowers always make such pretty cards and today I decided to give it a try. 

I made this card for this week's challenge on the Stampin' Up! only challenge blog found here.  Michelle Laycock just celebrated her 10th Anniversary as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator so this week the DT members thought it would be a good time to feature congratulations cards.  Congrats to you Michelle, what an accomplishment!

My card also fits this week's Twisted Tuesday challeng found here.  This week's challenge is to create a card using flowerrs, but the twist is that we were not allowed to use roses or rosettes.  What a fun challenge this week!  Who doesn't like flowers, right?!!

I began making my card by stamping my flowers.  I stamped them using early espresso ink and I filled in the flowers using pink pirouette and the leaves using pear pizzazz ink.  My flower panel is raised up using dimensionals.  I'm going to have to use this stamp set more often!  Did I mention that I love these flowers? LOL

My background was scored using my simply scoring tool.  I scored a diamond pattern on my background.  I know it's a little harder to see on the left side of my card, but it's there.

I used my scallop trim border punch along the bottom of my pink pirouette card stock and then in-between every other scallop I decided to add a small basic pearl.

Good morning!  Today's is Tuesday and that means it's time for another great challenge from the Twisted Tuesday's challenge blog.  This week's challenge is to create a project using flowers.  The twist is that they can't be roses or rosettes.

When we went for dinner at my mother in law's house on Sunday she had purple daisies in her kitchen and I thought they were so pretty so that was the inspiration for my card.

I used my big shot for several elements of my card:  the top note die, daisies, embossed background, embossed flower centers, labels die, and the little leaves sizzlits.  Once I had everything cut and embossed it was just a matter of assembling my card.

One thing I did want to mention is that to make my flowers I cut out two of each size and then using my bone folder I slightly folded over the petals then I placed the daisies together and then added the flower centers.  The flower centers were dry embossed and then I sponged them lightly using so saffron ink. My flowers were placed on my card using dimensionals.

I used the smallest die in the labels collection framelits for my sentiment- I thought this would make a cute Mother's day card.  And just along the bottom of my card my wild wasabi card stock was punched using my scallop border punch and to complete my card I decided to add some white ribbon.

Good Morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! Today's card is for the clean & simple challenge on splitcoast stampers in which we were to find ways to use scallops and also for the CAS-ual Friday's challenge found here which we were to create a CAS card using something that you would find in an Easter basket.

My kids loved finding the eggs left by the Easter bunny yesterday. The eggs were hid throughout our house and in the yard at grandma's house, plus my kids had chocolate bunnies in their baskets and so that was the inspiration for my card today.

My card took me only about 10 minutes to make from start to finish! It was real easy to make and it was just a matter of stamping the images and cutting them out. I stamped and cut out the bunny because I wasn't quite sure what I was doing with him, but if I were to recreate this card I would just stamp him on my card. Then all you need to do is stamp a few eggs, but those out, and make the grass.

I used my scallop border punch to punch along the top edge of my green designer series paper and then using my paper snips I simply cut some small slits to resemble the grass. Next, I added my ribbon and adhered it to my card base. Super easy!

Today's card I am posting for the blog group that I belong to and also for today's ways to use is challenge on splitcoast stampers.  The ways to use it challenge was for us to 'get coloring'.  My blog group challenge was a water themed challenge.  We were to incorporate water in some way on our card and in addition we were to use:  ribbon, brads and patterned paper.

My water was the ocean found within this light house image and I also decided to do some water coloring on my image. I first stamped my image using brown stazon ink.  Then I created a mask by stamping another image and cutting out the light house.  I then placed the cut out light house image over top of my first stamped image and this allowed me to sponge my background while keeping the light house white. 

I began sponging my sky using tempting turquoise ink (very lightly) and sponging with a punched out scallop circle.  Then I used so saffron ink, cherry cobber and then continued sponging.  The remaining part of my image was colored using SU water color crayons and a blender pen.

The rest of my card was just a matter of assembling it.  It was a bit tricky for me to figure out how to add my ribbon while still keeping it more masculine, but I think my ribbon treatment worked.  I added my three brads along the right side of my card.  I used my SU mat pack template to help me line them up straight.  The designer series paper I used was the inspiration for the colors I used in my image.

Twisted Tuesday Challenge


Good Morning!  Today I'm posting my card for the Twisted Tuesday Challenge blog.  This is our first challenge so I hope you will join us!  This week's challenge was a great one!  We were to create a card with clouds on it, but the twist was that they couldn't be stamped. 

I began making my card by first stamping the bunny image.  Before I sponged my background I needed to make a mask to cover up the bunny so that it would remain white.  The rest of my bunny image was colored using SU markers.

I actually used clouds two ways on my card.  I sponged some clouds onto the background of my card using a punched out scallop circle punch, bashful blue ink, and a sponge wedge (the sponging is a bit heavier towards the top and lighter towards the bottom/grassy area).  Then I also made a few clouds using the create a cupcake punch and then I embossed them using the manhattan flower embossing folder and I placed them on my card.

Next, I stamped the bunny image again and this time I colored the egg balloon, cut it out and placed it over top of my first stamped image.  I did this because I wanted the cloud to be behind the balloon plus I didn't have to worry about masking the balloon when I was sponging my background.  I did a small bit of paper piecing on the green part of the balloon using the same designer series paper that I used for the grassy area.

My grassy area was made by cutting some designer series paper using the adorning accents edgelits die.  My sentiment was stamped and punched out using the word window punch and then I layered it using the modern label punch (I punched out two pretty in pink pieces and I layered them so that they would fit nicely behind my bashful blue punched layer.  Next, I added a brad on each side of my sentiment and it's adhered onto my card using dimensionals.

Hi everyone!  I love the challenge this week on the CAS-ual Friday blog!  If you have time be sure to stop on over and check it out!  Here is the link for the challenge.  The challenge this week was to create a clean & simple card based on a song.  With Easter being only a week away I've had this song on my mind-
Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity hoppity,
Easter's on its way

There's more to the song, but I just posted the first few lines.  Actually ever since I made my card I've been singing this song.  I began making my card by stamping my bunny image and then I stamped the image again onto some scrap blue designer series paper.  I used the paper piecing technique for the bunny's dress and the Easter basket.  If you are not sure what the paper piecing technique is you will find a great tutorial here.  The rest of the bunny was colored using my SU markers.  I left the bunny white and I simply colored ears, shoes, eggs in the basket, and the bow on the basket.

I used my scallop border punch along the dsp towards the bottom of my card.  I finished my card using pleated ribbon with twine tied on top of it.  I decided to thread my twine through my button and then tie it off with a bow and then I stamped the Easter sentiment.
