Simply Pumpkins

Good evening!  I'm nearing the end of my 100 cards in 100 days goal.  This has been so much harder than I thought it was going to be, but the great thing about it was getting the chance to use stamps that I never used before.  And that brings me to my cards for today.  This stamp set was new and this is the first time I'm using it. 

I simply stamped the pumpkin image three times and punched them out and layered them using my square punches.  My background is embossed using the spider web embossing folder.

Splitcoast Color Challenge


Here's another card I made today towards my 100 cards in 100 days goal.  I made this for today's color challenge on splitcoast stampers.  I love these colors together and I'm glad I found some time to play along. 

I simply stamped the flower and leaf images and then I stamped my sentiment and next I added my ribbon.  Super quick and easy!

Twisted Tuesday Challenge ~ Patriot Day



Good Morning!  Today's Twisted Tuesday challenge is in remembrance of 911, Patriot Day.  The challenge this week is to create a sympathy or thinking of you card/project in honor of Patriot Day, a day in the US when we remember those that died on 9/11/01.  There is no crafty twist on the challenge this week.

I used a retired Stampin' Up! stamp called 'God Bless America'.  I cut the flag stamp apart and I made it so that I could use this stamp easier.  The stripes portion of the stamp and the heart portion of the stamp are cut apart so all I needed to do was to ink up and stamp.  I stamped the image and then I decided to add my ribbon along the left side.   I stamped and punched out my sympathy sentiment and I tied it on the ribbon.  The flag image layer was sponged all along the edges and it is popped up using dimensionals.  Below my flag image layer, I added a piece of white card stock that was punched using my scallop border punch.

The wording paper on my background is actually the words from 'God Bless America' and I printed them out using my computer.  I sponged around the edges to sort of give it that distressed look.   I then punched out three small flowers, one red, white, and blue and I added a basic pearl in the center of them.  I used the spring bouquet punch for these daisy flowers and they were placed on my card using dimensionals.

Gently Falling


I'm finishing up my 100 cards in 100 days goal and with that in mind I decided to ink up a stamp set that I've never used before.  I also went through my scrap bin and picked out what I thought might work on my cards. 

I stamped the thanks flower image using pink pirouette ink (sorry the pink image is hard to see in my photo) and then I layered it onto basic gray card stock.  My white card stock was dry embossed using the perfect polka dots embossing folder (I had this piece in my scrap bin already embossed).  The bottom of my dsp was punched using my scallop border punch and then all I did to complete my card was to add my ribbon.

And here's the second card I made using this stamp set.  I decided to use this leaf image and create a fall card.  Again, all the pieces on my card were scraps from my scrap bin; even the embossed pieces were scrap.

I stamped the main image once onto my card stock and then I stamped it again on a scrap piece of card stock and then I cut it out and placed it over top of my first stamped image using dimensionals.  I decided to add some ribbon just below my stamped image and that was about it.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown Color Challenge


Good Morning!  This week's 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge is a color challenge.  This is an awesome color challenge this week so I hope you'll join us and play along.  The colors are:  brown, red, and cream or white.
I began making my card by stamping the dasher image, and by the way, I love this image!  Then I layered my image onto chocolate chip card stock and I added some glitter on the antlers. 

My real red layer was dry embossed using my final press embossing folder and my big shot.  My scallop chocolate chip border was created using the adorning accents edgelits and just along the bottom of my card I decided to add two rows of paper piercing.  Along the top left side of my card I added three small silver brads and then to finish off my card I added my sentiment.

To create the bottom chocolate chip layer under my sentiment I punched out 2 punches using some chocolate chip card stock and my decorative label punch.  Then I cut one of the punch outs in half vertically and the other one was cut in half horizontally and all I did was to adhere them behind my real red layer leaving just enough room around the egdes so that I would have a nice chocolate chip border.  The back side of my sentiment it is pieced together, but no one will see the back side so that's okay.  To adhere my sentiment onto my card I used two dimensionals on the left side.  I didn't need to use any dimensionals underneath the right side of my sentiment since it was pretty level with the layered dasher image.

I loved this color combo so much that I decided to make another card.  I stamped my image and colored it using my SU markers.  My image is layered using the label collection framelits dies. I used the same size die for the image layer and the real red and second white layer.  The red layer is just turned sideways and the white layer I cut in half and placed behind my red layer.  The brown layer is the next bigger size and it's also dry embossed.

My sentiment is also made up of a few layers.  My sentiment is cut out with the smallest size framelits die and then it's layered onto 1 modern label punch (it is also cut in half and then spread apart to create the layer) and then that is layered onto a chocolate chip decorative label punch.  I added a small silver brad on each end of the modern label punch.

The designer series paper I used is from the same sheet.  I used the polka dot side in the center of my card and on the back side of the same sheet of dsp is the circle pattern.  I sometimes try to use the same dsp or papers from the same pack.  It makes matching up the colors so easy.

I have dimensionals behind my sentiment and I decided to add some ribbon onto my card.

Crafty Gal's Punch Art Challenge

Hi everyone!  Every month the blog group I belong to has a challenge and this month's challenge was to create a project using punch art.  Well, I have to say that I was so excited for this challenge and I even had some punch already made!  I have to apologize to my fellow Crafty Gal blog friends.  Although I was ready for this challenge I totally forgot to post my card.  I'm so sorry about that.   If you have time be sure to visit the other member's cards in my group.  I have a link to their blog post below-

The punches I used to make the penguin were:
1 3/8" Square - cut square to make triangle hat
Trio Flower Punch- hat top and hat trim
Owl Punch- penguin body, white front of body, feet, and eyes
5 Petal Flower Punch- penguin arms

The punches I used to make the present were:
1" Square Punch- for the present/box
Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch- for the bow on the present. The red ribbon strips on the present were cut by hand.

To make the rest of my card I used the large tree image from the SU 'Snow Swirled' stamp set.  I stamped the tree image all over onto the background of my card using lucky limade ink.  I also stamped the lucky limeade card stock that I punched out for the present.  I love that my background matches the present, it looks pretty neat!

Halloween Cards

Good evening!  I had some time today to put together a few Halloween cards.  I was trying to use up some of my paper scraps and sometimes that forces me to come up with some new layouts.  I hope you like my Halloween cards!

I had a scrap die from the labels framelits and I decided to stamp my skeleton image on that scrap piece of card stock and then I decided to cut straight around the top and both sides, but I left the bottom untouched which is why the bottom portion of my main image panel has the border from the framelit die.

My pumpkin was stamped using old olive ink and then stamped again using pumpkin pie ink. I cut out both pumpkins, but on the orange layer I cut off the stem and then I placed that over top of my green stamped pumpkin- that gave me my pumpkin with the green stem. You could use your SU markers, but sometimes it looks nicer to stamp your images.

The bottom of my pumpkin pie card stock was punched using my scallop border punch and the rest of my card was just a matter of assembling it. There is a dimensional under the pumpkin image.

I made my pumpkin on this card the same way and I did on my card above.  Again, on this card I was trying to use up some paper scraps that I had.  For my embellishment I decided to use a clear bitty button and behind it I placed a punched out circle of cajun craze card stock.  I sometimes do that when I don't have a button the exact color that I need. 

I then wrapped some white twine around my basic gray card stock and then I finished it off by tying it with a bow.  I have dimensionals under my skeleton layer.

My background on this card is embossed using my big shot and my spider web embossing folder.  Again, here I was trying to use up some paper scraps.  I'm not sure I would normally use these colors together, but I think it works for Halloween.

My images were stamped and punched out using my circle punches and I used my scallop border punch along the edge of my wild wasabi card stock towards the left hand side of my card.  That's about it for this card, super quick and easy!

Pumpkin Cards

I'm back today with a few more cards.  I'm trying to catch up on my goal of 100 cards in 100 days and I'm so close so I'm not about to give up now!  I decided to make a few fall and Thanksgiving cards. 

This card I made using a punch art pumpkin I have left over from the video I made recently.  Here is my blog post with the video showing how to make this pumpkin.  I began by punching out three scallop ovals and sponged all along the edges.  Then using the 2 step bird punch I created the leaf curls and the leaves and that's about it for this card, my layout is fairly simple.  I was trying to use up some scraps.

First Day of Play School


Today was my youngest daughter's first day of play school and I just had to share a photo of her.  Aubrey had such a great time and she can't wait to go again tomorrow, but she's so tired from school that fell asleep while she was playing.  She's growing up so fast! Pin It

Twisted Tuesday~ Cards for those you love

Good morning!  Today's Twisted Tuesday challenge is to create a card or project for someone you love and the twist is to use bright colors.  I decided to make this card for my teenage daughter and I'm going to put it in her lunch bag so that she'll find it at lunch time.

My tempting turquoise background is dry embossed using my perfect polka dots embossing folder and then I stamped and cut out the hot air balloons and placed them on my card.  Some of them are popped up using dimensionals.  I also stamped and cut out a few clouds and then I added some glitter on the clouds.

The lower portion of my card has a real red and daffodil delight layers.  My real red layer is punched using the eyelet border punch and I added a few white dots using my white gel pen.  I also added some white ribbon and my sentiment is layered using my designer label punch, then my word window punch, and topped off using my 1" circle punch.  I decided to place a red brad on both sides of my sentiment (on the word window layer).

Snow Angels

I wanted to make another card for this week's sketch challenge on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog.  (See my blog post below for a picture of the sketch).

It's very rare that I pull out my sewing machine, but on this card I decided to.  On the background of my card I went all along the edges three times with my sewing machine.  My sewing isn't straight and it was meant to be wavy and curvy.

My stamped image was colored using my SU markers and then I added some glitter.  For my embellishment I wrapped some twine around my card stock three times and then tied it off with a bow and that's about it.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown ~ Sketch

Good Morning!  This week's 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog challenge is a sketch challenge.  I love sketch challenges, they are my favorite and this week is a fantastic sketch!  Below is a picture of the sketch.
I began making my card by first stamping the green tree image and then I stamped the image again using rose red ink.  I then punched out some of the snowflakes using my circle punches and placed them on top of my original green tree image.  I used dimensionals to adhere the snowflakes onto my card and I placed rhinestone gems in the center of the snowflakes

The rest of my card was simply a matter of assembling it.  My sentiment was stamped and punched out using my scallop oval punch and then layered onto a punched out oval using my wide oval punch.  Underneath my sentiment are dimensionals.
