Happy 4th of July!



Happy 4th of July to you all!  I decided to make a card for the Sentimental Sunday blog challenge which was to create a patriotic card using red, white, and blue, (or the colors of your country's flag).  The bonus was that we could also use the sketch provided which is shown in the photo below.  I made a card similar to this yesterday, but this is a different layout and I stamped the sentiment differently.

I randomly stamped the fireworks images all over my card stock and then I cut it out to fit the sketch.  I stamped and punched out the larger blue star and the smaller red star was simply punched out and I placed a Rhinestone Jewel in the center of thet star.  My star is placed on my card using dimensionals. 

To create the sentiment I needed to color part of it using my real red stampin up marker and stamp the 'happy 4th of' and then I cleaned my stamp, inked up the 'July' part of the image and then I stamped next to it.  In other words I needed the sentiment to be stamped across.  TIP-  To create the notch in the end of my sentiment card stock layer I simply used a 1" square punch- super easy!

July 3, 2012 ~ Patriotic Fireworks



I made this card for the Clean & Simple stamping blog challenge and this time the challenge is a sketch challenge.  This card went together so quickly and I love the way it turned out.  Below is a photo of the sketch we were to follow.


I also made my card for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge blog which was to create a red, white, and blue card with some sparkle and for the Paper Playtime blog challenge which was to create a card using red, white, and blue with a die cut. 

I used a retired Stampin' Up! stamp set called 'July Fourth' and there are fireworks stamps within this set and I used those stamps to randomly stamp all over my background using real red and pacific point ink.  It might be a little hard to see in my photo, but I added a rhinestone jewel in the cneter of all the fireworks.  My die cuts are my large and small stars.

July 3, 2012 Twisted Tuesday Challenge

Good Morning!  Twisted Tuesday's challenge this week is to create a vintage card and the twist is that we had to use stripes somewhere.  Well, I'll be the first to say that I'm not very good at vintage cards so this certainly was a challenge for me and I hope you like how it turned out.

I stamped the image and colored it using my Stampin' Up! markers- Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette, and Crumb Cake.  Next, cut out my oval image, sponged the edges and added the three pearls along the bottom right side.

Towards the left side of my card I added some striped pretty in pink designer series which I also sponged all along the edges.  It's layered onto a piece of crumb cake card stock and the right side of that layer I punched along the edge using my scallop border punch.   Then I added my pleated ribbon, twine, and a button and then assembled my card.

The sentiment stamp I used on my card is actually a longer narrow stamp and to stamp the sentiment the way I wanted it I simply tapped the word happy onto my ink pad and then stamped it onto my card.  Then I cleaned the stamp really well and inked up the word anniversary and stamped it below- this is a quick easy way to change up the orientation of your sentiments.

July 2, 2012 ~ Reason to Smile

Earlier this morning I posted Stampin' Up's special for this month and I wanted to make some cards using that stamp set.  The 'Reason to Smile' stamp set makes beautiful one sheet wonder cards.  You can use several different color combinations to create lovely cards for all sorts of occasions.

I decided to make sympathy cards and I used the colors- so saffron, pool party, and island indigo.  To create a one sheet wonder set of cards all you need to do is to take a blank sheet of card stock and randomly stamp your images using the colors you wanted.  When you are stamping your images make sure to stamp them as close together as you can because once your cut your card stock apart it won't look as busy and you don't want any big open empty spaces.

On this card above I used so saffron for my card base, my one sheet wonder stamped paper that I made and I used my finishing touches edgelits for my island indigo border.  Next, I stamped my sentiment, added my ribbon and that was about it.

This is another card I made using the same one sheet wonder paper that I stamped.  The only difference is that I used a white card base this time and I decided to use my scallop border punch and I tied my ribbon on differently.  I also had an extra small stamped flower so I decided to cut it out and place it next to my sentiment. 

I can usually get 6-8 cards made out of one sheet of 8 1/2" x 11' stamped card stock.  I often times am asked if I use a template to make my cards and I don't.  I just start cutting my paper and work with the pieces I have left.  It's a great way to try out some new card layouts!

Good evening!  Jen (Miss Boo) asked some of the past CAS design team members from splitcoast stampers to make a card for the clean and simple challenge for tomorrow and I was thrilled she asked me.  The challenge this was is a color challenge using the colors- white, old olive, and night of navy.  I love the CAS challenges and as many of you know CAS cards are my very favorite. 

Since today is my wedding anniversary I decided to make this an anniversary card.  Hubby and I met 12 years ago today and we were married on the same day we met (we're married 6 years now and he's still the best husband ever!).

I colored my image using my Stampin' Up! markers and then I cut it out using my labels framelits.  The night of navy layer behind my stamped image was cut out and I punched the corners using a corner rounder punch.  My old olive layer was dry embossed using the vintage wallpaper embossing folder.

It's hard to see, but just below my ribbon I added a few score lines using my simply scoring board and then for my embellishment I added some night of navy ribbon and a button with some twine tied through the center.

I wanted to play along with this week's 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge and so I decided to make a tutorial as well.  The challenge is to bring on the glitter glitz and use lots of glitter on our cards.

Long ago I saw a tutorial on splitcoast stampers showing how to ink up embossing folders and then I got to thinking how neat it would be to use an embossing folder to create some glittery paper.

I have the directions posted below on how I made my background.  My stocking was made and put together using the stocking builder punch.  Along the top of the stocking panel I added some twine and a jingle bell attached to the stocking.

Here's another card I made using the same technique (shown below) and this time I decided to leave my embossed background untouched.  I simply added a ribbon with a button for my embellishment.

It's really important that you use your embossing buddy to remove any static that could be on your card stock.  You do not want the glitter sticking in places where you didn't want it.

 Next, I inked up my embossing folder using my VersaMark ink pad. Before you ink up your folder you will need to decide which side of the folder you would like to be your glittery back ground.  When  you are finished to clean your embossing folder simply run it under some warm water, pat it dry and leave it out to dry completely.
And then I placed my card stock inside my inked embossing folder.  Here I decided to only emboss the upper portion of my card.
 Then run it through your big shot machine like you normally would.
 As soon as your card stock is embossed you will want to sprinkle your iridescent embossing powder all over your card stock.  Be sure to tap off the extra powder.
Then all you need to do is to heat emboss you card stocking using your heat gun.  You will see the powder melting and as your heating your gun

These are the two cards I made for this week's clean and simple challenge on splitcoast stampers which was a sketch challenge.  This is such a great sketch to work with and so I decided to get a head start on some Christmas cards for this year.

I stamped the ornaments and punched them out using the ornament punch, so easy!  I did stamp and punch out one of the snowflake type images (the one in the center of the green ornament).  I also added a rhinestone in the center of each ornament.

Then I added my ribbon and stamped my sentiment.  This would be a perfect card to reproduce for your holiday cards because it's quick and easy to make.  I should have made a few more of these myself.

The stamp I used on this card is a current hostess set.  I love the sentiments in this set.  I simply stamped the sentiment and layered it and then assembled my card.

I used the dotted scallop ribbon border punch for the certainly celery card stock towards the bottom of my card and for my ribbon treatment I just tied on my ribbon and then I decided to add a bell and I tied it in the center of my bow using some twine.   It's hard to see in my photo, but I added a rhinestone jewel just above the letter i in the word Christmas.

June 26, 2012- another Twisted Tuesday card


As I'm trying to catch up on my cards for my 100 cards in 100 days challenge I decided to make another card for today's Twisted Tuesday challenge found here.

Melina sent me a few of these images to make some party invitations for my son and I had one image left and I thought it would be perfect for this challenge.

I colored the image using my Stampin' Up! markers and then I added a few white dots on the inner tubes using my white gel pen.  Then I just began to assemble my card and I added some red ribbon.  This was a real quick easy card to make and it would be perfect for invites or thank you cards!  I hope you like my card!  Have a great rest of the day.

June 26, 2012 Twisted Tuesday Challenge


Good Morning!  Today's Twisted Tuesday challenge is a theme challenge.  We were to create a refreshing creation and the twist is that we had to use red somewhere on our cards.

I have to admit that this card took me some time to make.  I used my big shot a lot on this card.  I began by stamping the ice cream scoops and cutting them out.  I stacked them onto my punched cone and then I added a cherry using the create a cupcake builder punch.  I punched out the cherry using white card stock and then I colored it using markers.

My pretty in pink layer was cut using the labels collection framelits and then it was dry embossed using the square lattice folder.  I used the new finishing touches edgelits to cut out my chocolate chip card stock borders.  My sentiment was stamped and then cut out using the new bitty banners framelits and I decided to add (next to my sentiment) a red button with some twine tied through it.

Is it Monday again already?!!  Where did the weekend go?  I was busy getting our yard cleaned up and getting some things done for our party.  I'm a bit behind my 100 cards in 100 days goal so I have some catching up to do today.

This is the card I made for today's splitcoast clean and simple challenge.  The challenge was a sketch challenge, which is my very favorite CAS challenge.  The sketch was based on this card here made by Miss Minx.  I loved this sketch so much that I ended up making two more cards (I'll post them later in the week).

This stamp set that I used isn't released yet so you are getting a sneak peek!  This Stampin' Up! stamp set is called 'Reason to Smile'.  I stamped the flower image and colored it using my SU markers.  My background is stamped using wisteria wonder ink and two flower stamps (from this same set).

My white border along the bottom of my card was cut using the adorning accents edgelits and I added a row of piercing using the new essentials paper piercing pack.  My sentiment was stamped and cut using the bitty banners framelits.

Blog Candy ~ Winner

Hi everyone!  Today I printed out all of the comments that I received on my blog candy post and I asked my son to pick a winner.  Here he is picking a name out of the tote.
