June 18, 2012- Simply Stampin' Sketch

I came across the Simply Stampin' Challenge blog and I saw this really cute sketch was this week's challenge so I just had to play along.  I decided to dust off my Just Buzzin' By stamp set and it was just perfect for this sketch.  As you probably noticed I turned the sketch sideways on my card.

I stamped the bee hive image onto some so saffron dsp and then I cut it out- this is a great technique if you do not want to spend the time coloring an image.  I stamped the bee hive again onto white card stock and then I cut out the 'hive sweet hive' words and I placed that over top of my paper pieced bee hive.

Next, I began assembling my card.  My card base is black layered with the same designer series paper as I used on the bee hive except that I turned the paper over and I decided to use the other side which is a different pattern.

I then placed my image panel onto my card and I added my bee hive using dimensionals.  The 'have a honey of a day' sentiment stamp is a longer narrow stamp and I wanted the words to fit underneath the bee hive so I used my stamp-a-ma-jig and I lined up the words the way I wanted them.  I still used my black ink pad and I was careful to only ink up the words that I wanted.  If you try this you will want to make sure that your stamp is very clean and dry in-between each inking.

Next, I stamped two of the bee images and two of the flower images and I colored them using my Stampin' Up! so saffron and black markers.  I punched them out using my circle punches and they are layered onto black card stock.  I did have to use a few dimensionals underneath the part of the circles that were touching my so saffron dsp.  I decided to add some glitter on the wings of the bees.

Well, that's about it for today!  I have a few more cards to work on for my card swap and I'll be posting that card on Wednesday!  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and I'd like to give a special thank you to all of my followers and if you are not a follower it would be awesome if you would become one.  Have a wonderful evening!  Tomorrow I will be posting my card for tomorrow's Twisted Tuesday challenge.
