Twisted Tuesday Inspiration

Good Morning! Today's Twisted Tuesday challenge is an inspiration challenge based on this photo below. It's such a pretty photo, isn't it?  And the twist this week is to use eyelets somewhere on your project.

It was hard to photograph my card with the silver embossing and glimmer paper so I posted another photo of my card below.
I started making the background of my card.  I ran the upper portion of my white background layer through my big shot machine using the square lattice embossing folder.  Just below my embossed area I added three score lines using my simply score board.  I usually do this to give me a nice separation from my embossed and unembossed areas.  I left about 1 1/2" towards the bottom unembossed so that I could stamp my sentiment.

To make the blue ornament I stamped the pacific point stamp, cut it out using the coordinating ornament framelit, and I tied some sliver cording towards the top and I added a few pearls.

The larger ornament on the left side of my card was cut using a framelit and silver glimmer card stock.  Then I stamped the small pacific point circle image, punched it out using a 1" circle punch, added a few pearls, and it's placed on the ornament using some dimensionals.

The silver ornament towards the right hand side of my card was heat embossed.  I used my versamark ink pad and silver embossing powder to create the image.  The smaller pacific point ornament placed on top of that was made by stamping the image using pacific point ink and and then I added a row of silver eyelets across the center.  And to complete it I tied some silver cording at the top and it's placed on top of my silver embossed ornament using dimensionals.

All of my ornaments were placed onto my dry embossed background layer using glue dots.  Regular adhesive will not hold the ornaments if you are placing them on a dry embossed background.

And lastly I just stamped my Merry Christmas sentiment.  Sorry for the long post today.  I wanted to take the time to explain how I made my ornaments.  Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you'll play along with us this week at Twisted Tuesday Challenges! Have a great day!

ABC ~ Anything Goes Challenge

Good morning!  This is the card I made for the ABC challenge blog and this week's challenge is an anything goes challenge.

I figured with Christmas right around the corner I would make a Christmas card plus I wanted to use one of my new stamp sets.

I began by cutting out a top note die shape and then I stamped my image and colored it using my SU markers.  The bottom part of my cherry cobbler card stock was die cut using the finishing touches edgelits.  And to complete my card I stamped my sentiment and layered it using oval punches and then I added three small pearls on the upper left side of my image panel.

That's about it for today, I kept my card easy and it was quick too!  I hope you'll join us and play along this week over at my new challenge blog ABC Challenges!  Have a great rest of the day!

Stamps:  Beautiful Season, Petite Pairs
Card Stock:  White, Cherry Cobbler, Festival of Prints DSP Stack
Ink:  Black Stazon

Pearl Snowflakes ~ 52 Christmas Card Throwdown

Good morning!  This week's 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog challenge is an embellishment challenge and we are using pearls!  I couldn't get this idea of using pearls as snowflakes out of my head and so I decided to run with it.  I think it looks neat with the different size pearls for the snowflakes.

I started creating my card by cutting a night of navy background to size (4" x 5 1/4").  Then I took some white card stock and tore it for the snow.  Here's a tip- when I was cutting the width of the white card stock I left it a hair wider than 4" because when you run it through your big shot to emboss it the card stock will shrink.  Using a 2 way glue pen I added some dazzling diamonds glitter along the edge and all over the embossed snow.  I have 3 layers of white card stock for the snow and the top 2 layers have dimensionals underneath them.

Here's a close up photo of the snowy area part of my card.  I wanted to show you how I have the top 2 layers of snow raised up using dimensionals.  It looks really neat with the trees placed between each layer.  The trees were stamped using gumball green ink and then using SU markers I colored the lights and tree trunk and I cut them out.  When I placed the trees on my card in the snowy area I used glue where the trees would be sitting on the embossed card stock (it won't hold very well on the embossed area if you don't use glue).  There are dimensionals under the top part of the tree.  The tree on the night of navy card stock is simply glued on.

For the snowman I colored my stamp using SU markers, cut him out and placed him on my card.  I did the same thing with the little birdie except since he's sitting on the snowy area I had to use glue to adhere him.

My sentiment was just stamped and punched out using my extra large oval punch.  And lastly, I added some pearls for the snowflakes.  When I place pearls on my cards I always use my paper piercing tool.  I just pick them up with the tool and put the pearls where ever I want them on my card.  I used the three smalles size pearls for my snowflakes.

I hope you liked my card today!  This is the first time I'm using this No Peeking stamp set and I can sure see myself using this set over and over again.  I also wanted to take a minute to say thank you to you for all your well wishes.  My back is starting to feel better, but it still hurts.  I'm able to move around and the Advil had been helping.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Wonderfall & Christmas Blessings

Good Morning!  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!  I haven't been posting on my blog these past few days because I haven't been feeling well.  I hurt my back last week and it's finally starting to feel better.  I'm not 100% better yet, but at least I can move around some.  At one point last week I couldn't even get out of bed so needless to say I'm behind with some of the challenge cards I usually make.
I recently started a new challenge blog and it's called ABC challenges.  ABC stands for All Beautiful Cards (my daughter came up with that idea), but anyway.....the Design Team and I are working hard at growing our challenge and we hope that you will play along with us, spread the word, and help our challenge blog grow.

The current ABC Challenge is our very first color challenge and the colors are:  Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, and Chocolate Chip.  I decided to ink up my new leaf stamps and I have to tell you that this is an awesome stamp set and I'm so glad I ordered it.  These leaves are perfect for fall cards, thank you cards, and I can even picture myself using these for some scrapbooking.

If you are using the die with this stamp set, I found that it really helps to die cut your card stock first.  Then I inked my stamps and turned them upside down with the rubber image facing up.  Then I placed my die cut on top of the inked image and I pressed lightly to get the ink on the card stock.  Trust me, it's so much easier this way!

I scored my background using my simply score tool and I was trying to mimic the design in the smaller pumpkin pie leaf image.  I scored my card stock using three lines and skipping two and once I had the one direction finished I turned the card stock around and did the same thing doing in the other direction.  I think my background turned out pretty neat!

The rest of my card is fairly simple.  I added some pumpkin pie and old olive dsp and then I tied some crochet ribbon and I added a button with some twine tied in the center.  One thing I wanted to mention is that when I add a button on top of my ribbon I use a glue gun to hold on the button.  It's what seems to work the best for me.

Stamps:  Wonderfall, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card Stock:  Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, DSP- Polka Dot Parade
Ink:  Old Olive, Chocolate, Pumpkin Pie
Supplies:  Crochet Trim Ribbon, Button, Twine, Word Window Punch, Autumn Accents Bigz Die, Simply Score Tool, Glue Dots
Technique: Dry Embossing, Die Cutting

This card I made was fairly simple to create.  I used a combination of paper piercing, die cutting, and dry embossing to create my main image panels.  My sentiment was stamped and cut out using the labels collection framelits and then I decided to do some paper piercing along the edges.  My sentiment layer has dimensionals underneath it.  My layer under that was also cut using the labels framelits and with that layer I decided to add some dry embossing using my simply score tool and I added the dry embossed lines on a diagonal.

The poinsettia flower was stamped, colored using my SU markers, and then cut out.  I added three gold brads in the center of the flower and my flower has dimensionals stacked (two layers) underneath it.  I stacked the dimensionals to raise it up a bit since my sentiment panel also has dimensionals under that.

I used my scallop trim border punch to punch along the bottom of my cherry cobbler card stock.

I made this card for a few challenges.  I'm surprised that I was able to combine a few challenges because I'm rarely ever able to do that.  I made this card for:

SUO blog challenge - create a clean & simple Christmas card
52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge - create cards using scripture.  I'm late posting my card for this challenge since I wasn't feeling well so I apologize.
Queen for the Day challenge- on Splitcoast stampers and I decided to case this card made by Gabby's.   I kept the same layout and I changed the images, papers, and I decided to make a Christmas card.  Congratulations Gabby for being chosen Queen of the Day!

Stamps:  Christmas Blessings
Card Stock:  White, Cherry Cobbler, Festival of Prints DSP Paper Stack
Ink:  Chocolate Chip
Supplies:  Labels Collections Framelits, Simply Score Tool, SU Markers, Festive Paper Piercing Pack, Paper Piercing Tool, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Dimensionals, Gold Brads, Scissors- for cutting out flower
Technique:  Dry Embossing, Paper Piercing

I promise I will try to make a card for the challenge, but in the mean time I wanted to share the challenge with you.  If you have time hop on over to the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog and check out our theme challenge this week, we are using scripture verses on our cards/projects.

This app: it's not My Digital Studio on a mobile device, not even close. This scaled-back version will only give you a taste of what they can create when they buy MDS. We want to get our name and our art out there so more people than ever before will know about Stampin' Up! We hope you'll get excited about it as well and that you'll do the following:

Download it from iTunes or the App Store, share it with all your friends, and post a review! The more positive reviews it gets, the more prominent place it takes in the iTunes store. Try it out!

SU does plan to have an Android version, but they are not ready to announce a launch date for that version. For now, the Simply Sent app is for iPhone only.

Stamping on DSP ~ Twisted Tuesday Challenge

Good Morning everyone!  This is a card I made for this week's Twisted Tuesday Challenges.  The challenge this week is to stamp on pattern paper and the twist is to use teal or turquoise somewhere on your card/project.

I have a lot of details on this card because I wanted to make it special for the family of a friend and customer of mine who recently passed away.  It was an unexpected illness and I'm thankful that she felt that she made the right decision in not seeking treatment.  I hope her family likes this card I made.

It might be hard to see in my photo so I wanted to mention that I stamped the flower image on so saffron dsp and this layer has dimensionals under it.  I colored the image using my SU markers.  I also added some paper piercing along the die cut shape.  I also placed a large pearl in the flower center and a small (crochet trim) ribbon knot towards the bottom of the flower stems.

The old olive layer behind my image needed a little something so I decided to add some lines of dry embossing using my simply scoring board.  The so saffron dsp behind the old olive layer also has dimensionals under it.  I used a lot of dimensionals on this card.   My turquoise layer was dry embossed using my fancy fan embossing folder and just along the bottom of my card I added two rows of paper piercing.  Above my sentiment I added three small silver brads.  Here's a tip- to help line up the brads use a piercing template to pierce the holes, they will line up every time!

My love & sympathy sentiment is from the same stamp set and it's punched out using the decorative label punch.  My sentiment actually has dimensionals stacked on top of each other on the left side and on the right I used glue dots.  I sometimes do this if one side of my card is higher than the other.  On this card I have  dimensionals under my main image panel so in order to make my sentiment panel even I stacked the dimensionals on the left side.  I hope I explained that okay, if not and you have any questions feel free to send me a message.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and visit my blog.  I'd love to have you follow me.  I'm trying to reach my goal of 300 followers, how cool would that be!!!  Have a wonderful day!

ABC sketch Challenge

Good afternoon!  Today is Monday and that means it's time for another challenge over at ABC Challenges.  This week's challenge found here, is a sketch challenge and I tried to keep the sketch fairly simple.  I added a few layers to my card, but this would be a great sketch for clean & simple cards too!  Below I have a photo of the sketch posted.

I was visiting some blogs today and I came across this card made by Ruth and I had to case it.  Hope you don't mind, Ruth :)

I ended up turning the sketch and I used dsp for the three panels.  The background behind the owl is sponged using bashful blue ink and a punched out scallop oval to help create to clouds.  My coral background was dry embossed using the perfect polka dots embossing folder.

I used the owl punch to create the owl and the scallop oval punch for the wings.  To make the wings simply fold an oval punch in half long ways and then using scissors cut it down the middle and you will have two wings.  The bird punch was used for the tree branch and I used a 1" circle punch to make the balloon as well as the owl punch again to create the bottom portion of the balloon.  It's hard to see in my photo, but the owl's foot is actually the bottom (gathered portion) of the balloon.  I tied some twine around the bottom part of the balloon and the other end is tied around the owl's wing.

And here is a photo of this week's ABC sketch challenge-

Thanks you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.  Please help spread the word about our new challenge blog.  We are just starting out and it would be great to have you join us and play along!

Christmas Covered Bridge

This is the last of the cards I made from the clean & simple card swap I was hosting.  This is probably my favorite card I made for that swap.  I love how easy this was to put together.  It didn't even take that long to color in the image since I tried to keep my coloring to a minimum.

I stamped the image and colored it using my SU markers and then I added some dazzling diamonds glitter over the snow (I know it's probably hard to see in my photo).  I had to use glue dots to adhere the main image panel to my background.  Sometimes the adhesive doesn't stick very well to the dry embossed card stock and it helps to use glue dots.

The upper portion of my background was dry embossed using my big shot and my snow burst embossing folder.  I kept the lower part unembossed since I knew I was going to stamp my sentiment there.  I used my simply scoring tool to add two rows of dry embossing between the snow burst folder and my sentiment.  That just sort of helps to give a nice separation between the dry embossed area and my sentiment and you'll notice that I do this quite often on my cards.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!  Have a great rest of the weekend!

Pink & Brown Mittens

Good morning!  This week's 52 Christmas Card Thorwdown is a color challenge.  I have the color chart posted below for you.  I decided to go with pink, brown, and white, what a fun color challenge!

I made brown and pink mittens, stamping them using chocolate chip and pretty in pink ink and then punched them out using the mitten punch and I glued the pink parts of the mittens on top of my punched out chocolate chip mittens.  I have the mittens placed on my card using dimensionals.  I did add a tiny dot or two of glue on the twine that I have placed between the mittens.  I did that to hold the twine in place and you only need one or two drops.

I used the window die to cut out the mitten background shape and I also did some faux stitching along the edge of the chocolate chip layer.  I used the adorning accents edgelits for my scallop layer towards the bottom of my card.  I also added a row of paper piercing at the bottom of my card.  My white background layers are dry embossed using the perfect polka dot embossing folder.

I wanted to quickly give you a tip on how I made my sentiment layer.  I first cut out a 3/4" strip of card stock and then I stamped my sentiment.  To make the notched (banner) side of my sentiment panel I used a 1" square punch and I notched out the end.  It's so easy to make banner panels this way and I never have to worry about getting the points even.  If you have a larger banner simply use a large square punch, if you have a smaller, more narrow banner then use a smaller square punch.

Have a great weekend everyone!  I'm on my way to help my son's Boy Scout toop make their hoagies that they sold for their fund raiser.  Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  Make a Mitten, More Merry Messages
Card Stock:  White, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Subtles DSP Paper Stack

Thankful for my Family

Good afternoon!  Every month the blog group I belong to has a challenge.  This month's challenge is from Jackie and she wanted us to make 'Fall Blessings' projects.  The challenge this month is to create a project to showcase our Blessings and it needed to feature what we are thankful for plus it had to be a fall theme.  I really had to think about this for a few days, but I finally came up with a card that suits me well.

I used the All in the Family stamp set and I stamped out my family (even the dog...LOL).  Then I looked through my designer series papers until I found something that I thought would work and using the colors from the dsp I colored my family images.

I used a white gel pen to color the buttons on my dress.  The leaves in the upper right corner were cut out from the designer series paper and I decided to add a small bow I tied using twine.

I also wanted to post the card I made for this week's ABC Challenge blog.  The challenge this week is a 'Tic Tac Toe' challenge and I actually ended up using 2 rows from the 'Tic Tac Toe' photo below.  I used Green Card Stock, Twine, Leaves, and Brown Card Stock, Fall Theme, Twine.  There's still time to play along so I hope you'll join us.

Here are the other memebers from my blog group.  If you have time be sure to check out their cards!

52 Christmas Card Throwdown ~ Sketch

Good Morning everyone!  This is the card I made for this week's 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog challenge.  This week's challenge is a sketch challenge and as many of you know sketch challenges are my very favorite.  Here is a photo of the sketch below-
I decided to use a stamp set that I've never used before.  This cute holiday happiness Stampin' Up! stamp set is so fun to use.  I love sets with lots of stamping and this is perfect for holiday cards.  I stamped the tree using gumball green ink and then the ornaments using raspberry ripple ink.  I didn't even use a stamp-a-ma-jig since the stamps were easy enough to line up.

The lower half of my white background is dry embossed using my square lattice embossing folder and I left the upper portion unembossed so that I could stamp the Happy Holidays sentiment on it.  It's hard to see in my photo so I wanted to point out that I added some rhinestone gems on some of the ornaments and at the top of the tree.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a great weekend!

Stamps:  Holiday Happiness
Card Stock:  White, Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, DSP- Snow Festival
Ink:  Gumball Green Raspberry Ripple

ABC Challenges~ Quick Cards- Halloween & Fall

Good morning!  This week's challenge at ABC challenges is to create 'Halloween in a Hurry' and 'Fast Fall' cards and the cards are to be made in a 1/2 hour or less.  This is a quick fall card I made and it probably took me about 20 minutes to make.

I stamped and cut out the leaves and acorn and placed them onto my dry embossed background using glue dots.  My sentiment was simply stamped and punched using a small oval punch and my ribbon treatment is just some ribbon with a button and twine tied through.

Stamps:  Day of Gratitude, All Holidays
Card Stock:  White, More Mustard, DSP- Autumn Spice- retired
Ink:  Old Olive, More Mustard, Early Espresso
Supplies:  Ribbon, Twine, Button, Scissors- for cutting out leaves/acorn, Small Oval Punch, Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder
Technique: Dry Embossing

Here's a fun Halloween cards I made in just a matter of minutes.  I used the owl punch to create the ghost (simply cut off the feet after you punch the owl) and the googlie eyes are just the perfect touch.  My background is dry embossed using the spider web embossing folder and my sentiment was punched out using the word window punch and I tied it onto my ribbon using some twine.  I have dimensionals under the ghost.

I hope you'll join us this week at ABC Challenges.  We are a new challenge blog and we'd love for you to help us grow and spread the word!

Have a great rest of the day!

Twisted Tuesday ~ Anything Goes

Hi everyone!  Here's my card for this week's Twisted Tuesday challenge.   This week's challenge is a free for all challenge so I hope you'll get a chance to play along.  I wanted to try the new bargello technique that I've been seeing lately.  It's a fun technique and I'd definitely use it again.

I used my big shot and square lattice embossing folder to emboss the solid more mustard layer.  My sentiment is layered using the decorative label, scallop oval, and modern label punches.  The oval scallop layer has some paper piercing along the edges.  The bats were punched out and I added the eyes using my white gel pen

Here is a link to a tutorial showing you how to do the bargello technique.

I made a Halloween card thinking I would get this posted on Tuesday and by the time I had it ready to go our power went out.  I live in NE Pennsylvania and we were in the path of the hurricane that hit the east coast earlier this week.  My family and I are all okay and our power has been restored.  We had a few days without power and I had to throw out the food in my fridge, but we're thankful that we weren't affected as badly as the people in NJ and NY.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!
