Hi everyone!  Happy Leap Year Day!  And with my extra day this year I decided to make a card- what else would I be doing....LOL.  I made this card for this week's Mojo Monday sktech challenge found here.  I also made this card for the weekly challenge for the blog group that I belong to.  The weekly challenge was to use a color combo that we have never used before.  Pacific point and daffodil delight color combo is a first for me!

Above is a photo of the Mojo Monday sketch we were to use.  Since I do not have any square envelopes I decided to make a regular A2 size card instead of a square card (I hope that was okay).

This card is a bit more work than I usually do on my cards, but it went quick and it was easy to do.  I began by making my flowers.  I cut them out using my big shot and my Daisies Flower #2 Bigz Die.  I cut 2 out of each one and I folded over the petals using my bone folder and then I and glued them together.  Next, I cut out the leaves using my big shot and the Little Leaves Sizzlits Die.  Then I used a small piece of daffodil delight card stock and I ran it through my big shot using my Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and then I sponged over the card stock using a sponge and daffodil delight ink- this was for the centers of my daisies which I punched out using my circle punches. While I had my big shot out I also embossed my pacific point card stock using my square lattice embossing folder.

Once I was finished using my big shot the rest of my card went together pretty quickly.  I punched the daffodil delight layer using my scallop border punch and then I placed that under my pacific point layer.  Then I added my ribbon (I always add ribbon onto my cards so that you do not see it from the inside) and I adhered that layer towards the bottom of my card.

Next, I began working on my sentiment panel.  I layered white card stock onto a daffodil layer and then placed that on my card.  I added some doodling along the edges using a pacific point marker.

My next step was to begin adding my flowers.  I arranged the flowers and the leaves on my card where I wanted them to be and then I adhered them using glue dots and dimensionals.  I stacked the dimensionals where I wanted the flowers to be raised up a bit more.

When I was almost finished with my card I was wishing that I had some blue twine and then it dawned on me to try and color some white twine with my pacific point marker and wouldn't you know, it worked!  Now it was a little messy so if you try this you will want to make sure that you do this on top of a scrap peice of card stock and let it dry.  If you get any marker on your hands be careful touching your card.  Once my twine was dry I threaded it through my button and I tied it in a bow and cut off the ends.  I used my hot glue gun to glue my button over the knot on my ribbon.

And that was it!  Honest, it didn't take more than 20 minutes or so to complete my card.  Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you liked my card.  See you tomorrow!

Hi everyone!  Today I made a card for the sketch challenge on the Clean & Simple stamping blog found here.  For this challenge we were to create a one layer card using the following sketch-

I used the larger flower stamp from the Stampin' Up! stamp set called Just Believe.  This is the first time I'm using this set and I love how pretty this flower image is.  I colored my stamp using my SU markers and then I stamped it on the lower left hand corner of my card.   Next, I stamped my sentiment using basic gray and then I sponged my sun.

I used a technique called reverse masking to make the sun.  Basically, you take a piece of scrap paper and punch out a circle.  Then place the scrap card stock with the open area where you would like the sun to be and sponge within that open/punched out area.

After my sun was finished I decided to sponge some clouds and I did a little bit of old olive sponging towards the bottom of my card.  I did this sponging because I didn't want my card to be all white.  I left my sentiment area white and so I didn't sponge over it.

For my embellishment I decided to add a row of three buttons with some white twine tied in the centers.  Well, that's about it for today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great rest of the day!

Happy Monday!  Gee, didn't the weekend just fly by?  It did for me, but I made sure to take a few minutes today to make a card for the clean & simple challenge on splitcoast stampers.  Today's challenge was a color challenge and we were to create a card using only white and rich razzleberry.  Whew...what a challenge!  But I think I did okay with this card.

I began making my card my stamping my images.  I used a retired set called Watercolor Trio.  This is one of my very favorite retired stamp sets.  It looks like one big large flower image on my card, but it's really not.  Using my stamp-a-ma-jig, I stamped the flower/leafy images from this set using rich razzleberry ink.

Next, I cut and embossed my rich razzleberry layer, added my ribbon, adhered it to my card and then I added a few white dots using my white gel pen.  I decided I wanted to add a button (with a piece of twine tied in the center) on top of my ribbon knot (I used my glue gun to adhered the button).  Lastly, I stamped my birthday sentiment and I added a few Rhinestones Jewels beneath it.  (Sorry about making so many birthday cards lately, I'm trying to replenish my birthday card stash- for me there are a ton of birthdays this time of year).

In case you are looking at my supply list below and wondering where I used the glue dots I wanted to explain.  By the way, I love glue dots and I use them all the time.  They are especially good to use under an embossed layer because sometimes snail adhesive just isn't enough.  Well, that's about it for today!  I'm off to get some of my house work finished.  I can't let hubby think all I do is stamp and blog all day long!

Ink: Rich Razzleberry

Hi everyone!  I was in the process of making a card for Friday's free for all challenge on splitcoast stampers and then I had to stop and pick up my son from school.  The free for all challenge was to create a card with some sort of critter on it.  I had my images stamped and punched out and then today I saw the sketch challenge on the Paper Players blog and it was the perfect sketch that I needed to complete my card.  Below is the sketch from the challenge.

We were able to change it up a little.  As long as we had 3 elements down a center panel with our sentiment across the bottom we were okay.  The elements could be any shape and we could use any shape for our sentiment.

When I started my card I was looking through my scrap bin to see what scraps I could use up and I found this designer series paper (it's retired dsp).  I also found enough card stock scraps in my bin for my smaller layers.  This is a great sketch for using up those scraps!

My images were stamped and punched out and then I layered them onto colored card stock.  My image panel was placed on my card using dimensionals.  My turtle was also placed on my card using dimensionals.  I ran my certainly celery layer through my paper crimper to give a little more texture to my card.

My background paper is retired designer series paper from Stampin' Up! and lastly I added a few embellishments.  I used up some of my hodge podge hard ware and some so saffron ribbon- both of which I purchased from Stamin' Up's! clearance rack.  I also have a small knotted ribbon placed on the giraffe's neck.

For my sentiment I used the 'hello baby' stamp from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  I stamped it and punched it out using my word window punch and then it's layered onto a so saffron layer punched using the modern label punch.  I have a dimensional under my sentiment to pop it up a bit.

Well, that's about it for today.  I have one other baby card that I made and I'll be posting it sometime this week. Have a great rest of the weekend.  I need to get dinner started.  We are having baked chicken and I have to get it in the oven soon.  See you tomorrow.

Stamps:  Fox & Friends, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Supplies: Ribbon, SU Hodge Podge Hardware, Twine, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Paper Crimper, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, 1 3/8" Square Punch, Crop-a-dial for the hole for my brad

The Paper Players Design Team Call

The Paper Players Blog is looking for two more design team members for March, April, and May and so I decided to apply and this blog post is for my entry.  Thanks for giving me the opportunity to apply!

A little about myself-  Well, my full name is Patricia Gorka, but everyone calls me Patty.  Years ago when my husband and I first met he would call me 'Patty LaLatty' and it just sort of stuck with me.  This is why many of you know me as LaLatty on splitcoast stampers.

I'm a stay at home mother to three wonderful children ages 17, 7, and 3.  I was first introduced to stamping when I was invited to a party at my Aunt's house.  That was over 8 years ago and I've been stamping ever since.  It took me years to convince my husband to let me sign up to be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and he finally caved in last year (thank you dear!).  I'm so lucky to have the best husband in the world who is so supportive of my stamping hobby.

Just the other day I posted in my blog group that I would love to join a design team again and my friend, Lela told me about your design team call.  (Thank you Lela!)  Being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator sort of limits me to the design teams that I can apply for and so the Paper Players challenges would be just perfect for me.  I've spent some time browsing through the past challenges and I loved the nice variety of challenges that there were and it seems like so much fun.  I would be honored to be selected to join your design team.

We are also to include 3 of our favorite projects along with our submission.  I decided to pick three of my favorite, more recent cards to share.

Cupcake Trio card.  More information about this card please click here.

Mixed Bunch Flowers.  For more information about this card please click here.

Apothecary Art card.  For more information about this card please click here.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to apply. Best of luck to everyone else who has applied. I enjoyed looking through the other submissions as well.

Hi there!  I made this card today for a few challenges.  I'm not one to usually combine challenges (it just never works out that way for me), but today it did.  Here are the challenges I made my card for:

WT363- Splitcoast Ways to use it challenge- found here.  This week's challenge was to use buttons.
Clean & Simple FTL sketch challenge- found here.
Stampin' Up! Only Blog challenge- found here.  We were to create birthday cards.

At first I wasn't quite sure if I liked my card, but then my 3 year old girl came over to me and said, "What pretty cupcakes, Mommy.  Are they for me?" I guess that's all I needed to hear so now I like it....LOL.

I used a combination of the Create a Cupcake stamp set and my Cupcake builder punch to make the cupcakes.  The tops of all the cupcakes are punched using dsp (spice cake- it's retired now, but I love this paper).  The chocolate bottoms of my cupcakes are stamped and punched out and the middle (vanilla) cupcake was punched using very vanilla card stock and then I ran it through my crimper.  My middle vanilla, cupcake is adhered onto my card using dimensionals.  And my entire cupcake panel was also adhered using dimensionals.

My background was embossed using the perfect polka dots embossing folder and my big shot.  My sentiment is from the create a cupcake stamp set and for my embellishment I decided to use a chocolate chip button with a small piece of white twine tied through it.

Well, that's about it for today!  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Hi everyone!  Today I'm sharing with you another card I made using my new Apothecary Art stamp set.  I love how versatile this set is since you can stamp several different sentiments inside these images.  And just in case you weren't sure, yes the sentiments from the Loving Thoughts stamp set do fit inside the Apothecary images.  Both of these sets are available in the current occasions mini catalog.  (I posted photos below so you can see the full stamp sets).

I stamped the image and colored it using my SU markers.  I used so saffron and certainly celery.  My so saffron and certainly celery layers are embossed using my big shot and the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder- then I decided to punch a scalloped border along the bottom of my certainly celery layer.

My image panel was applied using dimensionals and along the bottom of my card I decided to add two rows of paper piercing.  It's hard to see in my photo, but I did add a few small pearls in the center of the flowers.

The dsp that I used is from Twitterpated Designer Series Paper- it is one of the SAB choices this year.

I'm not in the need of a sympathy card at the moment, but I'm just making some cards to have on hand.  It seems as though I never have a sympathy card when someone asks me for one.

Here are the photos of the sets and framelits that I used to make my card-

Happy Monday!  Today I am trying to catch up on some of the blog challenges for the blog group that I belong to.  I also wanted to make a card for this week's clean & simple challenge on splitcoast stampers.

So this is a first for me, or I guess you could say this is unusual for me.  I rarely combine so many challenges into one card.  I don't know why, I guess I'm really not that great at finding several challenges that work together for me.  I'm always amazed when I see bloggers with like 10 challenges that fit into one card.  LOL

But anyway, the three challenge that my card is for are:  My blog group challenge was to make a card using green and purple and this week's blog group challenge was to make a card with some sort of bling- silver paper, glitter, glimmer mist, etc.  The third challenge I made this card for was for this week's CAS challenge to create a card using stitching.

I decided to use my SU Mixed Bunch stamp set and create a one sheet wonder card.  I'm sure you've read about me making one sheet wonder cards before, but just in case you didn't I'll briefly explain how to make them.  Basically, all you do is to take a sheet of neutral card stock and using your stamps you stamp all over.  The trick to this is to try and keep your images close together.  To make the card I am showing you today, I just took a piece of scrap card stock and I stamped all over it.  You really don't need to stamp an entire sheet of card stock, unless of course you would want to make several cards.

Once my card stock was stamped I layered my card onto my purple layer, I did my faux stitching, and then I added a punched border along the bottom.  My image panel was placed on my card using dimensionals.  I added the dimensionals because the backs of the brads are pretty big and I didn't want my card to have the bumps in it from the brads.  The dimensionals raised my panel up just enough that the brads really aren't an issue now.

Lastly, I added my birthday sentiment (I decided to make this a birthday card because it seems as though I'm always in need of birthday cards around this time of year).  The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up! stamp set Curly Cute.  I love this sentiment stamp set because it's has really nice sentiments in it that I would definitely use on a regular basis.

I'm posting a photo of the two stamp sets I used (in case you wanted to see them).

Mixed Bunch Clear Mount Item # 125537 - $21.95     Mixed Bunch Wood Mount item # 125535 - $27.95

Curly Cute Clear Mount Item # 120510 $14.95   Curly Cute Wood Mount Item # 117014 $19.95

Well, that's about it for today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Medallion Wreath Tutorial

Hi everyone!  I know it's been awhile, since I've updated my blog, I'm sorry about that.  I'm hoping to get back on track now.  I was looking at my front door yesterday and I realized that I needed to make another wreath and so I thought it would be a great idea to use the designer series paper from this year's sale-a-bration catalog.

The brads and designer series papers are both sale-a-bration choices this time around.  I have the SAB catalog posted on the right side of my blog if you would like to look through it.  Remember from now until March 31st you can earn free merchandise for every $50 you spend.  Plus if you place a $150 show you will earn $25 in free merchandise and a free Stampin' Up! tote bag.

I have made these wreaths before, but this time I used my new Designer Rosette Bigz XL Die that's available in the current occasions mini catalog (item # 125594 $42.95) .  I found it quicker and much easier to make my rosettes using this die plus the die has two designer edges and it can cut rosettes up to 10".  The spacing between each fold is 1/2".  The few steps I have posted below for you are how I made my wreath.  If you have any questions about this project feel free to send me an email at pebbles4@ptd.net

The first thing I did was to cut my 12x12 designer series paper in half.  You have to use 12x12 paper for this die.  I ended up using an entire pack of dsp to make my wreath- I wanted my wreath to be large.

This is a close up picture of the Designer Rosette Bigz XL Die.  I wanted to try and show you the two designer edges and the score marks.

This is the stack/sandwich I used when cutting with this die.  You'll need the extra large cutting pads for this die.  The sandwich is- extra large cutting pad, die cutting side up, designer series paper, extended cutting pad.

For my big shot machine I needed to use a shim.  I saved the long thin cardboard that came with my die and it was just perfect for the shim I needed.  If your big shot machine is new you probably won't need a shim.  Don't use a shim if you do not need it- you should not force anything to go through your big shot.  If you use a shim and you really don't need it, the scoring part of the die may end up cutting your paper instead of scoring it.

On the other hand if you are running this die through your big shot and the score lines are not scored enough you might want to try using a shim- you can also use a piece of card stock for a shim.

In this photo above I tried to show you what your paper should look like after you cut it using this die.  Each end will have a different edge and every 1/2" there is a score line.

Since this die cuts 2 decorative edges you will need to run this die through your big shot twice to get 2 strips with the same edge, but this works out perfectly since you will now have made 2 rosettes.  The designer series paper I used is double sided and so when I'm cutting my rosettes I try to use 2 sheets of the same paper and this is perfect because it takes the guess work out of finding papers that match.

In my photo above I cut the designer paper in half (after I ran it through my big shot).  If you want to make smaller rosettes then you will need to cut a little bit off of your straight edge.  I did this just using my scissors since the straight edge will be in the middle and you really won't be able to tell if it was cut straight.  You can use your paper cutter if you wanted as well.

Once you have 2 strips of designer series paper with the same edge all you need to do is to glue them together.  I used my snail adhesive for this part.  If you would like to see more information on how I assembled my rosettes please see my blog post found here.

To create the rosettes simply flatten them out keeping the straight edge in the center.  I used a large 1 3/4" circle punch to punch out some circles and then using my glue gun I glued the rosettes to the punched out circle.  For my larger rosettes my paper strips measured 2 1/2" and my smaller rosettes the paper strips measured 1 1/2".

Here is a photo of my finished wreath.  This is a large wreath and it's approximately  20" round.  I ended up making 12 large and 12 small rosettes.  If you wanted to make a smaller wreath all you need to do is to make less rosettes or cut the strips smaller.

Here is a close up photo of some of the rosettes on my wreath.

And here is one more close up photo.  I used brads for the centers of my rosettes.  I simply glued them in the centers using my glue gun.

Thanks to all of you for takign the time to stop on by.  I hope you liked the wreath I made.  Have a great rest of the day!  See you tomorrow!

Hi everyone!  Today I'm posting the card that I made for the monthly challenge of the blog group that I belong to.  This month's challenge was to create a Valentine card using hearts.  Our blog group recently started weekly challenges and this week's challenge was to use polka dots so I decided to combine both challenges and the polka dots I used are on my designer series paper.

I used a current Sale-a-bration stamp set called sprinkled expressions and I just stamped the heart and punched it out using my circle punch.  The black layer behind my heart is actually the blossom flower punch that I punched twice and then I placed them on top of each other so that they looked like a larger scallop circle.

My dry embossed heart layer I made using the new Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders- heart folder found in the current Stampin' Up! mini catalog.  These strip embossing folders are great for embossing a smaller portion for your projects.

Other than that finishing my card was just a matter of assembling it.  I decided to use a mini clothespin with a small piece of red and white twine tied around it and then I added a ribbon tied with a knot.

I hope you liked my card and be sure to check out the other challenge cards from our Crafty Gals blog group.  The link to their blogs can be found on the right side of my blog in the side bar.

Thanks for visiting & have a great rest of the day.  Enjoy the super bowl too!
