52 Christmas Card Throwdown~ Sketch Challenge

Good Morning!  This week's 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge is a sketch challenge.  I have a photo of the sketch posted below.  Sketch challenges are my favorite challenges so this one was really fun!

I decided to use summer starfruit on my card and it's one of those colors that I'm not too crazy about, but it seemed to work on this card with my bell images.  I stamped all three bell images and then colored them using my SU markers.  The colors I used for my coloring are:  summer starfruit, gumball green, primrose petals (for the ribbon part of the image), and raspberry ripple (for the berries).

My gumball green background was stamped using gumball green ink and the larger flower stamp from the Bells & Boughs stamp set.  For the star portion of the sketch I decided to use some buttons.  They are the small clear bitty buttons and I punched out a small scallop circle punch (Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack) using summer starfruit card stock and then I placed it behind the buttons.  To finish off the buttons I simply tied some white twine through them and then tied a knot.

TIP- I first threaded my twine through a sewing needle and then it was real easy to place the twine through the button using the needle.  I kept enough twine on my needle to keep threading twine through each button,  this way I only had to thread my needle one time.  In other words....you will thread the needle, go up and down the first button and cut the twine (leave enough to tie it off).  Then keeping your twine on your needle go up and down the next button and cut the twine (again leaving enough to tie it off) and so on.

And here is a picture of the sketch.  I hope you'll play along and I look forward to seeing your cards!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Be sure to visit the other DT members on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog and leave a comment for them!

I actually ended up making this same card twice and I forgot to post a photo of my first version of my card.  The only difference between this card below and my card above is the way I layered my sentiment.  I placed my sentiment onto a punched out scallop oval and then layered onto a wide oval punch layer.

I love your card and that stamp set! I wondered where you got summer starfruit buttons and then read about them. That is such a great idea. Gotta get those buttons! Thank you, your card is beautiful!

What a lovely Christmas card Patty - it has such a warm, old fashioned charm to it! I don't think Summer Starfruit is going to be one of my faves - but I haven't seen it in the flesh yet, got to wait a while here in the UK! You've used it so well here though!
